Hey everyone, I used the search option and didn't find anything on these guys and was curious what other folks opinions were regarding this band.

I saw these guys in Phoenix, Az. as both The School Boys and later as Icon. The S/T debut is a strong debut with a lil cheese but the "honesty" is totaly there. They are so solid onstage and When John Aquilano stepped in replacing Mick Sweda, the guitar dept. went into overdrive.

I saw them again before the singer got saved and split just before "Night Of The Crime" was released. I was trippin on that album when it first came out but have grown to appreciate the catchy tunes and performances by the musicians.

The third version with Jerry Harrison on vocals was a good band but not up to par with earlier line-ups. Jerry is from the Inland Empire area of San Berdoo/Riverside Calif thatI am from and I was familar with his talent long before Icon.
I'd have to say Icon really wasn't right for him and visa/versa.

Anyways....if you get the chance to see the live DVD of them playing in Phoenix 85' check it out. Sound quality is average I suppose considering the source and they are sporting a cheesy image, but the performance and songs rock.

I have some metal compilation around here with their song 'On Your Feet' on it - cool song. I've been meaning to pick up their s/t for awhile now, but have never gotten around to it.

I was just listening to Nigh Of The Crime,a nd it made me curious if we've discussed this band before. I really love what these guys did, and I've always wondered why they didn't get as big as Dokken or Quiet Riot. They were signed to big labels, had the likes of Eddie Kramer and Ron Nevison producing their albums, but never went anywhere. Life is unfare at times....

They played a Phoinex, Az. gig opening for Tesla last year. Frankie told me they were great and the new singer was pretty good. John A. And Dan W. are playing guitars and Jerry D. is playing drums from the original band.
Wish they would write, record and release something ?

Never heard of these guys. I listened to a few songs on YouTube. Not bad, if a little dated. I would have been all over this back in the day. Still catchy though. Are their discs hard to come by?

I think all their albums have been reissued so they should be easy to come by.

Growing up I only heard of them but never actually heard any of their music. I had no idea that Icon worked with both Eddie Kramer and Ron Nevison. I will have to check them out.

It's a very 80's sound but that's not a bad thing. Night Of The Crime is their best imo.

I remember seeing their video for "On Your Feet" on MTV waaaaaaayyyy back in the day and thinking they sounded pretty cool, but then they disappeared off the face of the Earth just as quickly as they came.

Heard the S/T a few years ago when it was reissued and thought they sounded a lot like the mighty Keel. (Which is not a bad thing, by the way)

Thanks for that Olaf, but I don't have the time or money to start investing in yet another 'new' band that elluded me the first time 'round. This board costs me enough as it is.

I love both their albums with their original singer.

Icon (1984) and Night Of The Crime (1985)

Yeah, Olaf got me really excited with that link. Rushed over to find the albums missing, and I found the cheapest original of the original "Icon" album for $79.24 fainting

The cheapest used one of the reissue costs $29.88.

Haven't checked lately, but "An Even More Perfect Union" used to sell for mega-bucks. I don't think that one has ever been re-issued, but it is wimpy as hell anyways.

An Even More...was reissued this year by Epicenter Media. NEH used to have it, but was sold out last time I checked. And our Uncle is right, it's def. wimpy, wimpy, wimpy.

I have the cassette (A More Perfect Union) sitting in a box someplace and remember hearing at it's release that it was supposed to be return to form.
My joke at the time ... "The band must of been runnin for political office in Phoenix"

Have not heard An even more pefect onion. Looks like i`m not missing much.
I have their 3 first albums.
And kmorg, a carboard sleeve is just as bad as the ultra cheap Axe Killer remaster.
Cheap as in no lyrics, pics, words from the band in the booklet.
