Power Metal Then Vs. Now

The old days. Metal Church, Vicious Rumors, Grave Digger, Running Wild etc. Name more if you wish.

The new days. Kamelot, Firewind, Silent Force.

Which is better?

Old. No contest.

I like them both to some degree, but much prefer a band like Metal Church/Vicious Rumors to the fluff that is Kamelot.

However, a modern band like Brainstorm is quite good.

So I guess it just depends on the band.

POWER METAL >>>>>>>>>>> flower metal

Mostly the older stuff,but like Ult says depends on the band.Stuff like Symphorce and Firewind is great.

I knew TOB would say, Flower Metal. I was hoping he'd throw in a wankery too.

Of course I do. But those aren't flower metal bands.

Much of what is termed "power metal" today is really just flower metal.

Ahhh gotcha! I agree, what is labeled power metal now is much different from what was power metal in the 80's.

Thus my reference to Kamelot as being fluff.
