Pre- Killing Machine vs Post- Killing Machine

Post- Killing Machine ends with Ram it Down (and includes Killing Machine)


I prefer pre- Killing Machine

Pre for me, but both eras are phenomenal and created the modern conception of heavy metal. By the way, for us in the States that album was known as Hell Bent For Leather not Killing Machine, in case anyone's confused.

I'll go with Post. Pre is great too but just on the strength of Screaming and Defenders puts it ahead for me.

Post.

Stained Class = Defenders of the Faith
Sad Wings = Screaming for Vengeance
Sin After Sin < British Steel + Killing Machine

Rocka Rolla, Point of Entry, Turbo, Ram It Down I didn't much care for, so no points for those.

Pre for me, see.

I love pretty much all eras of Priest but nowadays when I'm in a JP mood I tend to reach for Unleashed in the East, Stained Class or Sin After Sin more often than the '80s/'90s stuff.

I'm with 007, Screaming puts that era over the top.

Unleashed in the East probably counts for "post" in this poll, chronologically.

I love all Judas Priest ( well almost all) hard for me to choice

I voted "Pre", but it really depends on the mood I'm in.

Some days I want full-on METAL Priest, so I'll reach for Defenders or Painkiller. But some days I want something with a little more 70's flair, so I'll go for Sad Wings or Rocka Rolla.

It's all good.

I just prefer all pre-Richie Faulkner JP.

I like all Priest except maybe Rocka Rolla... but I definitely like the post era better.

I went Post. Screaming, Defenders and Painkiller helped me with that choice. But pre Killing Machine is fantastic too.

What my esteemed Metal Brother said is perfect.

Definitely "post" for me. I can appreciate the influence those early albums had on the genre but I really have to be in a particular mood to listen to them these days.

I disagree - "Killing Machine" was the album where they started simplifying their sound, toning their progressive leanings way down.

I voted Pre. Unlike most people, Point of Entry is my favorite Priest album.

I really like Point of Entry, as well - I wouldn't call it my favourite (too tough to call, anyway), but I do really enjoy it - that's the wonderful thing about Priest, they've released so much great material which varies a lot in style.
