Yeah, I agree, the commercials have sucked.

The Brady Bunch commercial with Danny Trejo was awesome, but I watched that a couple days ago.

I'm working a party tonight so unable to watch the game, but I probably wouldn't have watched it even if I did have the night off.

And since the Cheatriots won, the whole game gets wiped from my memory banks.

That was quite an ending to the Super Bowl.

Why the hell would you do that 3 yards from the goal line?

So glad the Seahawks lost. I still hate the Patriots though.

I hate the Patriots, but that was GREAT game, and the Seahawks deserve to lose for what has to be the dumbest play call in NFL history. You have Lynch and Wilson from the 1 yard line with 3 cracks at it? Wow.

Battle Royale (2000) - Japanese junior high school students are taken to an uninhabited isalnd and forced to fight to the death by the Japanese government (plot borrowed heavily by the Hunger Games). I found this to be very entertaining.


Good Guys Wear Black (1978) Chuck Norris stars as a former Special Forces team member investigating the murders of his former colleagues. Doesn't quite hold up to my memories from my younger days but still pretty decent

Battle Royal is such a fun movie. RUN!

Battle Royale is a good one. I wasn't so crazy about the sequel though.

Exactly!!

I forgot about the Snickers commercial with Danny Trejo as "Marcia Brady". That was comedic gold IMO.

Wow! I watched the first one not knowing anything about the plot/story. Wow! On the weirder side, which didn't surprise me. Japan and Korea seem to sprout a lot of weirdness.

The Lee version was good in its own right. Less weird, more straight-forward. Josh Brolin got into some good shape for that role.

When it comes to movies with twist endings, Oldboy wears the jeweled crown, and sadly not enough people know about it.

That movie scarred the shit out of me.

EDIT: the original, I mean. Haven't seen the Lee version.

Finished the third part of the vengeance trilogy "Sympathy For Lady Vengeance".

This is easily the most stylized of the three films; the color red plays a prominent role right from the opening credits until the finale.  It's also slower moving and even more non-linear than Mr. Vengeance or OldBoy.  But I think the vengeance in this one is the most satisfying.  It's also less gory than the first two; most of the kills happen offscreen.

Next up is another Korean vengeance flick I borrowed from a guy at work called "I Saw The Devil"

Most of my favorite films come from either Japan or Korea.  And the level of weirdness in them is a big part of the draw.  That and the gore.  At least the vengeance trilogy plays like "normal" cinema.  Try Tokyo Gore Police or Machine Girl or Helldriver or Meatball Machine.  Those are their own genre that I call "gory slapstick".
