Was cranking HURRICANE this weekend in my car -
" Take What You Want " CD - 1987 release ?
Stand out tracks :
"Like A Hurrinace Coming "
" Girls Are Out Tonight "
" Take Me In Your Arms "
There's even a instrumental on it -
Has a Dokken type feel to it -
Rudy Sarzos brother does the guitar work -
Anybody know anything about them - or their other CD's ?

I had their Take What You Want and the follow up Over the Edge CDs for a while - neither one ever grabbed me by the short n curlies so I eventually traded 'em off.

Their minor hit "I'm Onto You" got some MTV play back in the day... never liked that song much, the "nah-nah-nah-nah-nah-nahhhh" refrain in the chorus was irritating as hell Very Happy

Their family connections to Quiet Riot (Carlos Cavazo's brother was also in the band) didn't do much for them, cuz by the time Hurricane came out QR's fifteen minutes of fame were already over with. Haha.

Last I checked each of their CDs are pretty pricey collectibles now, as they're long out of print.

Their lead singer (Kelly Hansen) is in Foreigner nowadays.

Not a huge fan - saw them live twice back in the day, they opened for Stryper both times.

There are some 2007/2008 remasters readily available on Amazon for regular CD price.

But like you, this band didn't do much for me. I didn't think they were terrible, but just wasn't too into them.

There are many bands from this sub-genre (which happens to be one of my favorites) that I would rather listen to. So I do. Listen to them. Ratherly.

They've been reissued? Shows you how much I pay attention to such things. Very Happy When I got hold of original copies of Take What You Want and Over the Edge on CD around 2005 or so, I posted about 'em on a forum I belonged to, having no idea what hot items they were at that time... and I had people messaging me within moments, practically offering me sexual favors  if I'd trade those discs to them. Laughing very hard

At that time I think Take What You Want was going for close to a hundred bills on eBay. I traded it to a guy at that forum for an original press of the first Body Count CD w/"Cop Killer" on it to replace my old cassette. So he was happy and I was happy. :cheese:

Dammit. Now I've got that chorus stuck in my head. Thanks, you knob!

Aside from that one annoying "hit", my only other memory of the band was this album cover...

Hurricane 51Qa1V1PehL._SY355_

Back in the day, before we were old enough to get in the bar, we'd hang out in my buddies basement and drink. He had a big cardboard box with a bunch of tapes in there that we'd dig through and throw on the boom box. All sorts of metal, from glam to thrash and everything in between. I remember the nipple-riffic cover of that album, but not much else.

Well - the band is still around -
opening for Queensryke March 2014 -
with Carvazo and Sarzo in the band -
The singer sounds like the original guy -
here's that song no one seems to like affraid

That was my introduction to them as well. I have that EP (that's what it originally was) on vinyl.   I still like songs like "The Girls Are Out Tonight" and "Hot and Heavy" even though in retrospect I realize that those songs and the band were just typical "hair metal" at the time.

I just have a soft spot for this band because I "found" them at the time and turned other people onto them (but those people probably curse me now).

I really like these guys. I'm a bit surprised at the hate they are getting. They've had some pretty good album covers. BANNED!

I've always thought the EP was the best thing they did. I didn't like "Slave To The Thrill" nearly as much. I always chalked this band up to "Boston-it is"; shoot your wad on the first thing you release then never measure up to it again.

I had Over The Edge on cassette back in the day but that was it. A while back the local used shop had a couple Hurricane cds but I passed on them. Needless to say they didn't last there very long.

Love these guys! Have been a fan since I saw the vid for I'm Onto You. I actually had the cassette single for that one with the instrumental version of Baby Snakes on the second side. Just took Over the Edge out of the car on Sunday when I switched out my cd's for the week.

Saying something could be stronger doesn't necessarily mean bad. The hooks were there (for the most part) but the arrangements were more hit and miss.
