How is that?  I'm always tempted since the price has come down - but the illustrated part is what gives me pause.  I really love Are You Morbid?  Seems only fitting to have both.

Mrs. Witchfinder got me - The New Wave of British Heavy Metal Encyclopedia by Malc Macmillan - for Valentine's day!  

This book is insane - it's 800 pages double column text!  I thought I was pretty conversant in NWOBHM but I had never even heard of the first 7 bands in the book.  One warning, if you get this book, it's going to cost you a lot of money tracking down albums.  Ha!

Only just seen your post. It's a really good book, it looks expensive until you see the size of the thing. It's the illustrated part that makes it for me, lots of early rejected artwork and rare photos, the biography is cool too, I was a bit worried that Tom would have his pretentious head on, but it's surprisingly honest.

It's gone up in price a lot between then and now, or at least the sanely (and not-quite-so-insanely) priced ones have been bought. I'd actually put it on a "might get this later when I can spare the money" list in early February, and it was under $40 then.
