2011 Album of the Year

3/4 of the way through 2011, what album would you pick as your Album of the Year, or what would be your Top 5?

My Top album so far has to be:
Accu§er - Dependent Domination


Top 5 in Metal:
Accu§er - Dependent Domination
Havok - Time is Up
Anvil - Juggernaut of Justice
Anthrax - Worship Music
Witchhammer - Chapter 3: In Serenity and Awe

Still have a lot of good music to check out.

I have gotten a grand total of 3 (!) 2011 releases this year - Anthrax, Anvil, and Stryper. So deciding which one is my favorite is easy. At the moment I'd say it's gonna be Anvil for the win, but I want to hear the new Iced Earth and/or Megadeth before the year's out.

I think when VEKTOR comes out that will be it for me.

Haven't heard one that blew me away but DREAM THEATER came the closest.

I need to listen to more ACCUSER.

The year isnt over of course, and theres still probably some that has been released that I need to give a/more listen(s). Especially the new Saracen, which seems to be very good again. But for now, my top ten:

RIOT - Immortal Soul (album of the year - by far I'd say)

Twisted Tower Dire - Make it Dark
Anvil - Juggernaut of Justice
Katana - Heads Will Roll
Saxon - Call to Arms
Anthrax - Worship Music
Killinger - Killinger
Jag Panzer - The Scourge of the Light
Portrait - Crimen Laesae Majestatis Divinae
Tokyo Blade - Thousand Men Strong

Impossible! There's no way I could do this.

This is off the top o' my head for now.

The only new album I have so far is Anthrax. I'm sure I'll also love Vektor, Riot, and Symphony X when I get them. Also really need the new Saxon and Vicious Rumors.

If Viking finishes their new album before the year is out I'm thinking it has a good shot at being my top album of the year.

Yeah, that VIKING album will probably be good. Plus, it has Hoglan on drums!

I'm probably the only person outside of the band who would say my album of the year so far is....

Morbid Angel - Illud Divinum Insanus

I get and understand the hate for it, but for some reason I love the thing.

Some that are right up there...

Evil Survives - Metal Vengeance
Whitesnake - Forevermore
Black N' Blue - Hell Yeah
Mr. Big - What If

I'll also add that outside of metal albums Gang Of Four's Content totally blew me away with how great it is.

Here's my current top 10:

1. Borealis - Fall From Grace
2. Stratovarius - Elysium
3. Alice Cooper - Welcome 2 My Nightmare
4. Cauldron - Burning Fortune
5. Warbringer - Worlds Torn Asunder
6. HammerFall - Infected
7. Alestorm - Back Through Time
8. Anvil - Juggernaut of Justice
9. Deicide - To Hell With God
10. Symfonia - In Paradisum

The top 5 are records that have totally blown me away. The top 7 are all 9/10 or better. Anvil and Deicide were easy choices for 8 and 9, but there are tons of albums battling it out for the 10th spot. This has been the best year since I've been into Metal (since about 2006 or so). It's amazing to consider how much I love the new Warbringer, and yet, it's only number 5.

I still need to hear the new Riot, White Wizzard, Evile, Vektor, and Megadeth (and probably more )

I forgot about DEICIDE. That's a good one.

I think the ORIGIN album is my album of the year. Can't believe there has come a time when I would prefer this band over John Arch! I never liked this band before. What is the world coming to?

Right now, I'd have to say that this is my top contender...

Alice Cooper - Welcome 2 My Nightmare

...simply because I had such low expectations and it really blew me away at how good it is.

The only release I'm still looking forward to this year is Megadeth. There are a few others from this year that I still need to catch up on, but I'm in no immediate rush.

Uriah Heep - Into the Wild

Saxon is close, too. I'm thinking Mystic Prophecy or Nightwish might beat both. And the new Iced Earth once I get into it more.

Not quite my thing, but I do think this is a worthy contender. I had to review it and there's something rather special about it, certainly.
