Really easy, as long as your receiver or amp(if you use a seperate amp) has all the outputs for all the speakers.

If yours hooks up that way, Yes. If not, you have to run it thourgh your stereo.

My dvd player is plugged into my stereo receiver via an cable optical and then the 5.1 speakers are controlled by the receiver.
