Pestilence - Testimony of the Ancients

Haven't spun this CD in years. Decided to listen to some discs I haven't spun in a while today and this one is sounding fantastic. Slightly melodic, thrash-infused death metal!

Any fans?

Testimony of the Ancients is my favorite Pestilence album. It's fantastic!

Love it.

I never got into Pestilence at the time this came out because I wasn't that into the whole death scene. Many years later I found dirt cheap that two-fer that got put out with this and Consuming Impulse. Love both albums.

I may be the only one, but I also really like Spheres and Resurrection Macabre too.

I got that 2-fer also, both albums are great.

Its a decent album but I prefer Consuming Impulse over it.

This is one of my all time favorite death metal cds. The interludes can get a bit annoying after a while but with itunes these days I can just deselect them and get it to play only the actual tracks.

This album is almost like a prelude to Blessed Are the Sick by Morbid Angel. The two albums almost go hand in hand together as they are stylistically similar imo.

Either way this is an underrated masterpiece for the ages.

I also have the 2-fer.

I just got mine recently. I will be spinning these tonight. I also liked Spheres with the unique soundscapes from the synths (they claim they didn't use them but who's kidding who).

Strangely, I could never get into Consuming Impulse. I prefer Malleus Maleficarum much better and of course Testimony... is imo the best Pestilence album.

I listened to them and I find them to both be fine platters of technical death metal (riding the line between death metal and technical thrash-just like Athiest). I prefer Testimony due to it being more melodic (which is probably why MC666 thinks it was a step down) but Consuming Impulse is still a great album.

Saw this album in a used cd store today. I instantly got it and played it on the way home.
