Euro Thrash poll

I took this poll from another board I visit on occasion. Besides taking part in the poll, list some of your favorite European thrash bands.

Never cared much for Venom. Never really thought of them as "thrash" either.

Like Celtic Frost a lot. Their new CD is great! However, never considered them thrash either.

Kreator just a bit more than Sodom.I also like Destruction.Never liked Venom

Agree to all of that. Never thought that Venom or Celtic Frost is Thrash. I listened at Monotheist 3 times the last days because I just purchased it last Saturday. I like it, but it is very dark. I think I must be in the right mood to listen to it, but then it rules.

I think I'm finally gonna say Sodom has taken over the top spot for me. Only by a whisker, though.

I've never been a big Celtic Frost fan. I did get Vanity / Nemesis recently, and I enjoy it.

I don't care for Venom one bit.

Other European thrashers I like:

Vulture (Hol), Slammer (UK), Deathrow (Ger), Prestige (Fin), Hämmer (Pol), Cyclone (Bel), Acid Reign (UK), Decadence (Bel), D.A.M. (UK), Toranaga (UK), Stone (Fin), Sacrificial (Den), Tankard (Ger), Coroner (Swe), Amnesia (UK)...

I love Vanity/Nemesis. Never could understand why so many fans hate that album so much.

man that is a tough poll to choose i tell you. i like most of those but went for venom as i have heard more of their stuff than the others

Celtic Frost is not a thrash band imho. however, they are my favorite band of all that is listed there, and one of my top 5 of all time. so they have my vote.

ARTILLERY by a long shot.

I've recently picked up 2 Blackend cd's (on a recommedation from Ult's site, thanks!!) and I can't get enough of them. Really cool German thrash.

Cool. Glad you like them. Which one's did you get?

Make sure you also pick up the Jump Into the Pit Testament tribute. Blackend are on this CD, as well as Ultimatum.

ya know i never really thought of venom as european metal as i am british myself but when you think about it i can see your point if you aint british

I got Sloth a few months ago and just recently picked up Mental.Game.Messiah. I like Sloth slightly more, maybe because I've had it longer, but both are awesome. I still need their 3rd release. I'll look into the Testament tribute.

I voted for Kreator.

From those I voted Kreator, Sodom would be second, then would be Destruction and Celtic Frost.
I only like couple of songs from Venom.

Other bands: Tankard, Prestige, Stone, Accu§er, Xentrix, Vendetta, Coroner, Despair, National Napalm Syndicate, A.R.G., Acid Reign, Artillery

Kreator, just slightly over Coroner, Sodom and Destruction.

Other cool acts are Equinox, Poltergeist, Xentrix

Kreator. Great old albums (Especially Extreme Aggression!) plus fantastic last two albums (Violent Revolution being in my top 15 all-time list!!).

Never got really into Sodom, and I'd actually say that I even like their later stuff better. Still, far from being a bad band.

Destruction, I like 'em, but I'd say that they aren't that special either. I never considered Venom or Celtic Frost thrash, though I love both of them! (the old stuff).

Picked Destruction from the list, although it's close between them and Kreator. Not as familiar with the rest.

Have you heard M-16 or Code Red from SODOM yet? Man, these are essential thrash IMO.

I have Code Red and I like it a lot. I got Agent Orange and was less impressed. That weird song about incest bothers me. Why would you sing a song seemingly cheering about inscest? Anyway I think that cooled my enthusiasm for Sodom a little. But I am still interested in checking out more Sodom.

I had their first two (I think) and liked them less.

Hmmm, seems to be similar to somthing Slayer might do in looking through the eyes of someone who is sick. Slayer wrote songs from the perspective of a serial murderer, this seems to be written through the eyes of a guy struggling with incest. I'm not sure it's 'cheering about incest' but it is a gruesome song.

My vote went to Sodom as well.
