I listened to the two albums by Atrophy today. Atrophy was one of the cooler thrash bands to come out of Arizona in the second tier thrash influx during the mid 80's. I think I like socialized hate the best but what are your impressions?

I REALLY like both albums, but if push comes to shove I have to go with Violent By Nature. It was slightly more diverse and mature.

Went with Violent By Nature. I just have more love for that record than Socialized Hate. Both are great though.
I had a roommate who hated metal but loved "Beer Bong". He would make these mixes on cassette with Buffet, James Taylor, Don Henley, and Atrophy's Beer Bong.

Violent By Nature! The debut is an okay record but has no standouts. VBN does have 2: the title cut and Puppies.

Mediocre beats boring.

I revisited both of these yesterday, I really like both albums. Some of the best thrash of the late 80s. I thought the first had more of a Nuclear assault style, but Violent by nature sounds like Devastation to me at times. Toss up, I like both equally I think.

Violent to me is a little more generic, Socialized has better, more memorable choruses. Both are great though.

I like 'em both, but I voted Violent by Nature just because the chorus just popped into my mind when I read it.

Those 2 albums should be reissued.
Don't own any Atrophy in my collection yet. Might go for those Russian bootlegs, until i can secure proper copies.
