| This is a long shot. Anyone ever heard Gack? They were essentially Laaz Rockit that changed their band name in the mid nineties. This is an example of a relatively well known band that changes their sound a bit and decides to change their name, but gets no support because of it. Their one album is pretty awesome groove thrash ala nineties Overkill. I kind of stumbled upon this album and am thouroughly impressed. Anyone ever heard them? Here's a sample for the curious.... http://www.supload.com/listen?s=CYYqj7

| Heard of it, yes, but I don't own it. I've bid on it several times. _________________ ULTIMATUM - TOO METAL FOR WIKIPEDIA!

| Heard of it, but never actually heard it. Will have to check out the sample later. Thanx Spec. If it sounds like 90s Overkill then it should be up my alley.
Whose idea was it to change the name to "Gack" of all things? I read an interview with a couple of the Laaz Rockit guys in "Snakepit" zine some time ago where they were asked if they had any regrets, and they admit that the name change was probably not the brightest idea in retrospect. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

| Just curious, what's the "controversial content" hidden by the sticker on the cover? _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

That's just a tounge in cheek gag. Like saying an ankle is controversial. That's my guess. Nothing inside the cover except the lyrics in Japanese and Engrish. I have no idea why they changed their name, especially since their "new" sound isn't so distant from their older stuff. |

Yes. It doesn't censor anything. |

| In the early centuries and like the 20's up through most liekly the 50's...the showing of a ladie's ankle was taboo. I'd assume this cover art is a joke aimed at that, as it's a dude's ankle. _________________ "Oh man, I need TV? When I got T Rex"

| Ok I am going to ask the question and but for years of I have heard of the bands Laaz Rockit, Legs Diamond and ICON, I have no idea what they sound like, etc, so who are Laaz Rockit, are they a metal band and are they worth looking into? It seems like these bands have been around for 20 plus years, but I have never seen article about Laaz Rockit, or even have read any album reviews, these guys seem to fly waaaaaaaay below the radar. | |

Yes. They are a (old school) power metal/thrash metal mix. If you check out their stuff, please check out "Know Your Enemy", or "Annihilation Principle" first. Icon are also a good band, albeit a little generic. They are more LA/Hair metal-ish. Legs Diamond I have never heard. |

Laaz Rockit were from California (Oakland area, I believe, but don't quote me), they started out as more of a straight up trad-metal band on their debut (CITY'S GONNA BURN, 1984) but adopted a more Bay Area Thrash style as they went on. They reminded me a lot of Zetro Sousa-era Exodus on their later records. As for Legs Diamond, I got nuthin.' Heard OF'em but never heard'em. Ditto for Icon. BTW Spec, that "Gack" song was pretty killer stuff. Gonna have to keep an eye peeled for that album. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

| Never heard about Gack. What was the point of the name change? I only have 2 Laaz Rockit cd's. Know Your Enemy and Annihilation Principle on cdr from a buddy of mine. I remember going into a used shop and seeing KYE, AP and Nothing$ Sacred all sitting there. I'd never heard of them, but my buddy told me they were pretty cool and I should check them out. He suggested Know Your Enemy. Got it, loved it, went back for the others and alas, they were gone. If I knew then what I know now, I woulda snapped up all 3 then & there. I got nothing to add about ICON or Legs Diamond either. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. | I used to have a couple Legs Diamond LPs (my Dad gave them to me). They were a fairly faceless hard rock/southern rock band, not absolutely terrible...but nothing to write home about either.
Their most "famous" album was "A Diamond Is A Hard Rock". These guys were punmeisters extraordinaire. |

[url=http://www.supload.com/listen?s=CYYqj7 http://www.supload.com/listen?s=CYYqj7[/quote[/url]] Was this released in the States? A quick gander on Amazon and ebay and it only shows up as an import from Japan. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. Yeah - Jap only. As well as the brilliant Live at Citta album. They were [maybe still are?] a much better live band than studio band. So, as completely opposite of most bands, I actually prefer their live album to the rest of their catalog. Now, if someone could just give me the opportunity to obtain my holy grail, Laaz - Holiday in Cambodia cds, I could quit collecting forever. That has been on my wantlist since before I had a wantlist. |

An excellent album! Annihilation Principle dumped most of the power tendencies for an aggressive Bay Area thrash attack and was also a very good album! _________________ You're cancer, you can't be the answer, you're killing me

Holiday in Combodia MCD is very rare, I sold this MCD one year ago to Sovdat, but after that never found one again. Great single! About Gack, the original one is only made in Japan, with OBI and a small sticker. | |
