I get on YES trips all the time. This morning will likely start another YES trip as I sit and listen to "Tormato", one of my favorite Yes albums. It is also one of the most underrated Yes albums, along with "Going for the One."

Any Yes fans? Favorites? Least favorites?

I got into Yes due to your site, actually and now I LOVE LOVE LOVE 'em.

I must confess that the CD I listen to the most from their discography is "Drama" which is many fans' least favorite. I would have loved to hear Jon Anderson sing that material.

But from their early days, salad days, 80's pop and now to almost come full circle, Yes is one of the best bands that doesn't get half the recognition they deserve.

I've been a fan since around 1980, picked up a vinyl rock compilation album that had Starship Trooper on it...was immediately drawn in by Anderson's voice and the unique sound (I was already a fan of Pink Floyd and Queen, so it wasn't too radical of a jump).

My favorite material ranges from the self-titled debut album (w/Peter Banks) thru Big Generator. I guess if I had to pick one album it would be "Close To The Edge". the first album I actually owned was the Chris Squire produced compilation called Classic Yes, then I picked up Fragile and moved forward and backward from there.

Talk about a band with a signature sound...nobody comes close.

One of the greatest prog bands ever. Close To The Edge is one of the greatest albums ever. The organ solo on that song always sends chills up my spine. It's phenominal, and Wakeman is king.

I'm a huge yes fan, Tormato is my fave and I have the version with extra tracks, Tales Of Topographic Oceans is another fave. Drama and Big Generator are 2 that I don't like at all, I think I'll give them another spin to see if my opinion had changed.

I seem to like the underdogs in their discography. I really like 90125 and Big Generator. If you ask me, it's not technically Yes without Steve Howe, but the music stands well on its own on those albums.

I like them! I actually started getting their albums because of the sites (NLTM & HoM). I have close to the edge and tales - I like them both!

90125 started out as a Trevor Rabin solo project and slowly morphed into a Yes album. I love that album, Steve Howe or not, the arrangments are simply brilliant.

One summer, I had to listen to The Ladder every morning as I drove to school, so I understand what you mean about going on a Yes trip.

I am YES fan and even saw them live on the 90125 tour when I was 13 or 14. I grew up with the Trevor Rabin version of Yes and had to work my way backwards.

It is funny that Drama album has fans on this board, I used to think that Jon Anderson was the weak link in that band and then I heard 'Drama', and I hated the vocals on that album It made learn to appreciate Anderson's unique vocal stylings. Cannot imagine any other vocalist fronting YES.

I love Yes. Great band. My favorite Yes album is the first Yes album that I ever heard and that is "The Yes Album". I have actually been in a room of people that are all talking and when I put on "I've Seen All Good People" the entire room went silent and everyone just listened and didn't say a word for the entire duration of the song. It's a very powerful song and a great memory of mine.

Those are my favorites. I like most of the other stuff but those are the ones I listen to a lot.

I have been on the biggest Yes fix this past week or so. I have most of the stuff with Rick Wakeman on it, I haven't ventured too much into Tormato though. I will check it out!

I've heard about Yes for years, but I never listened to any of their music until I read Scott's reviews on NLTM. I have everything up through Tormato. My favorite is Close to the Edge. There are still a few holes in the Yes collection that I've been too lazy to find, but I should really get to soon.

Tales From Topographic Oceans is an amazing album; however, it is also responsible for the creation of punk rock, imo.

Punk was just as much a reaction against stuff like Captain & Tenille, Bread, The Carpenters, Seals & Crofts and all the other "fluffy" 70's stuff as it was against progressive rock.

Emerson, Lake & Palmer is a more likely target...they did more to give prog a bad name than any other band I can think of.

Yes, I am a YES fan as well. I actually got into them because one of my junior high school math teachers was a big fan, and he had this drawing someone had made for him with the shiny, curby classic Yes logo. I had not heard Yes much, but had a friend that had "Close to the Edge". I immediately went out and got a cassette tape of both that album and "Fragile". I think "Fragile" is still my favorite, but I also agree that "Tormato" and "Going for the One" are both excellent albums, grossly underrated. I picked up "Going for the One" not too long ago for a couple of bucks at a used CD store...what a bargain! I am also a fan of "90125", because I listened to it quite a bit during the 80's. It is different from their classic 70's sound, but still a great album.

You make it sound as if that is a bad thing! Laughing I think at the time, there seemed to be a wider divide between Prog and Punk. I am actually a fan of both genres, and really don't find it so odd. One genre's strengths are is technical prowless, while the other focuses on pure rage and passion. I find both appealing, and depending on my mode I can be listening to Yes and ELP or to the Misfits or the Damned.

I wouldn't mind going to that L.A. date, but I'm guessing the prices are jacked up the butt.
