Who was the first "metal" band to debut an album at #1 on the Billboard charts?

Quiet Riot's Metal Health

Nope. It's a bit of a trick question. Metal Health eventually climbed to #1, but it didn't debut in that spot. Also, someone is sure to point out that the band in question might not be "metal" in the traditional sense. Hard rock, perhaps, although I think it's a fine metal album.

Try again.

Hmmm.... well the first Metal album to debut at # 1 was Skid Row's Slave To The Grind, if you are including bands considered hard rock, not sure, but probably Van Halen's F.U.C.K - it would have to be an album released after the new soundscan (or what ever it;s called) system debut in the 90's as most new albums didn't go straight to # 1 on release week.

That is a good guess, and I think you maybe right and Skid Row is considered a metal band, by most peps including me

Yes indeedy-do. Skid Row is the answer I was looking for. Slave to the Grind is considdered the first heavy metal album to debut in the #1 position.

Freddy, send Joker a cookie.

Yep, me too. And Slave was heavier than their debut!!!!

Did some checking - pulling the Van Hager guess out - it was released the week after Slave

Slave To The Grind is heavier and, IMO, even more Metal than Metal Health...and definitely moreso than F.U.C.K.

In 1998, the members of Kiss guested on the then-popular Fox TV show "Millenium". What was Paul Stanley's character's name?

Ooooooooohhh... I remember that!! Cant' remember the character's name but I believe he was some sort of sleazy Hollywood producer type.

On the 'Drew Carey Show', the guys held auditions for a guitar player to join the band. Around 10 or so famous musicans did a cameo.

Can you name at least 3 people that auditioned?

Bonus question: Who ended up getting the gig and became a semi-regular on the show?

'Yes' on Mustaine and Joey Ramone. 'No' on Frampton. Here's the folks that auditioned:

Slash
Rick Nielsen - Cheap Trick
Dusty Hill - ZZ Top
Matthew Sweet
Joey Ramone
Lisa Loeb
Dave Mustaine - Megadeth
Roy Clark
Jonny Lang
Michael Stanley (?)
Joe Walsh - The Eagles

Here's the clip if you want to see it. Watch them crack-up at the Joey Ramone audition...
