I remember these shows. Geraldo Rivera was on a major anti "Heavy Metal" kick back in those days. Whenever there was a teen suicide linked to "Heavy Metal", Geraldo was on it.

I seem to remember him saying he was ashamed of these specials now.

Geraldo has always be a sensationalist, attention seeking moron with minimal reporting skills. Any hornets nest he could stir up he would. That of course led to the eventual evolution of Jerry Springer and their ilk.

My point is that they claim not to believe in the Christian bible, they just borrow names and terms from it.

I remember this stuff from high school. In the Catholic High School I attended, our religion class teacher played Stairway to Heaven backwards, and insisted the garbled nonsense syllables were telling us to worship satan. Being a musician and progressive rock fan, I raised my hand to ask about Jethro Tull (I had yet to hear Tull's song "Jesus Saves" back then), honestly wondering if my favorite band was safe. The answer I got was "that stuff is blasphemy!!" And how did I respond? I went home and listened to my copy of "Original Masters" on my walkman. I listened closely to the lyrics, and decided that the old fart teaching the religion class was just sore because the guys in bands like Tull were real musicians and because they played so loud. About a week later, I went to a music store in the mall and bought Tull's latest album, "Crest Of A Knave". To this day, listening to this magnificent masterpiece of progressive rock reminds me of how stupid that whole witch hunt against metal was.

This clip would have been better if it was King Diamond who had broken his nose.

Classic!! I saw a stand-up comic once who riffed on this. He sez he wanted to get that show on tape so he could watch the chair hit Geraldo in slow motion whenever he wants. "Look....out.... Ger....al...do....OUCH!"
