The Dead Confirm First Tour In Five Years

Original members Phil Lesh, Bob Weir, Mickey Hart and Bill Kreutzmann will be joined by returning tour-mates guitarist Warren Hayne and keyboardist Jeff Chimenti when The Dead begin their month-long tour consisting of 19 shows in 16 cities.

This 2009 tour comes hot off the heels of two shows The Dead played in 2008 in support of the now President-elect of the United States, Barack Obama. Pre-Sale tickets for the upcoming tour will go on sale at the band’s official website on January 13.

To their credit, they are just calling it The Dead. Seems reasonable.

I had a chance to see these guys back in the early 80s and decided not to go. I wish I had now if only to say that I did. I liked some of the Dead's music but never really went out and bought much. This tour could be pretty cool and will give lots of people the chance to see sort of what they were all about. I wonder how much tickets will be?

Didn't this line-up (or very simliar) tour once already as "The Other Ones"?

Damn, was hoping this was "Dead Can Dance!"

With Warren Haynes in the band should be great, Warren is awesome!
