I imagine it would suck a big one to burn all your music and have the thing crash. For Christmas I got a USB turntable that rips vinyl to MP3. I'll be uploading some cool stuff soon. I have some things I've never listened to! I haven't owned a record player for about 15 years. Haha. |

I was looking at these. What kind did you get? Let us know how you like it. I have a ton of stuff on vinyl that will never see a CD release and I haven't owned a turntable in forever either. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

It's made by a company called Ion. I haven't tried it yet, but I will tomorrow. An older dude at work has one and he says it's really good. He's ripped a bunch of old jazz and whatnot, says the quality isn't perfect because it's vinyl, but it's still excellent quality. I can't wait to hear some of this vinyl I have. |

I bought a ton, but I also spent very little for it all, and even traded a bit for some of them. Plus free review copies and all that. I bet I spent under $3,000 on music. That's insane, too, but I spend my money on little else so it's not totally irresponsible... |

| We spent about the same then because I probably average around $12 or $13 per CD. But like you, I don't spend my money on much else so it's not like I'm starving the cats so I can buy CDs. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

Yeah, you spent much more than me. I average less than $5 per disc, and it's often far less than that. From free to pennies to $2. |

| I was trying to break 3200 total by year's end but it looks like I fell one short. My last outstanding order came today and put me at 3199. Considering I get no freebies and that's my total after selling about 25 discs this year, I estimate about 40 grand invested in my CDs. Geez, I need to update my home owner's insurance. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Wow - that's alot of music this year! I think I added 50 or 60 this year, if I'm lucky!
I haven't used the USB turntable, but I have a preamp that plugs into my soundcard. It works well for old vinyl. You have to edit the songs after you rip it - it basically makes one big file. But, the software I have can help take out the pops and scratches. I can also normalize the sound to make it louder (my own loudness wars - lol!) | |
