My mother's family was from the Trondjem (Trondheim, Nidaros) area I believe. Their name was Gregerson.
My father's paternal family was Swedish, I know many of them live in the Falun area. One relative there (Peter Frobom) has had several successful Bluegrass and Rockabilly bands (Gravity, Whiteleather, Miss T-Bones, The Backporch Band). I imagine he thinks I'm a clod for liking Scandinavian melodic metal so much, I don't know.
My father's maternal family just wandered around, I think in Lappland or Finnmark or the North Pole or somewhere. They were Finnish speaking people. My father spoke Finnish originally too.

So your father was originally from a Finnish Lap? Cool! The Laps are like the American Indians, they original natived of Scandinavia, and even Russia. They share the same language, although they can be found in 4 different countries. I suspect that the Eskimos and the Laps also have a lot in common, and that they once were of the same race/culture.
