Gotthard

I was putting together DallasBlack's comp CD and wanted to check if he'd heard Gotthard. To my surprise, there isn't even a thread about this great Swiss melodic hard rock band.

Gotthard (named after a mountain in Switzerland), trade in the same musical territory as bands such as Pink Cream 69 and Shakra. Excellent melodic/heavy metal.

This band has gone through several phases. Their early albums from the S/T through Open are a mixture of metal and hard rock. "Homerun" and "Human Zoo" sort of went in a more pop metal direction. And their last two, "Lip Service" and "Domino Effect" hybridize the various musical phases of the band.

In a nutshell, if you like bands like PC69, I think you'd like Gotthard.

Any other fans?

Gotthard is a very good band...I like them quite a bit...my favorite from them is Homerun...

This is one I want to track down eventually, just too many in front of them at the moment.

I also love Domino Effect, would also rate Lip Service as a great album also.

Good melodic rock like this is getting harder to find these days.

My favorites are two of their earlier releases, "Dial Hard" and "G". I also really like "Lip Service"

I have all their albums and their DVD and I love this band.

I bought Domino Effect a while ago, and got hoocked.
I am now on a mission to get their complete discoraphy !
Their albums are pretty easy to find, at least here in Europe.

I was thinking about getting their newest one.

Finally got to hear these guys from a comp exact made me. He had 2 songs from them the one that got me hooked was Lift You Up. After I heard that I was sold and bought all their albums. I didnt think I was going to really like them but they are good. They arent really too metal but they are kind of pop rockish I think. Not the way def leppard has went but arent too far from that. They just have way better songs than del leppard.

When I started getting their stuff I was looking up info on them and all of their albums were charted #1 making them one of the most successful Swiss album chart acts ever. I thought that was crazy and just dont understand why they arent even known here in the states.

"Lift You Up" is a great song but not really representative of their catalogue IMO. I love their early, more metal songs.

Check out "Fist In Your Face" from G.

Same thing I did once I discovered the band. Criminally unknown in the US IMO.

Yea Lift You Up isnt anything like their other songs but it just sucked me in haha.

Hey its me your talking to....of course I got all their albums already lol. I dont waist time! Life is too short to wait to complete discographys haha.

The Gotthard version of The Mighty Quinn rules in my book. This is my second favorite band in this genre after Pink Cream 69.

They did another cover song I cant remember which one right now but they totally butchered it and I was disapointed.

They did Come Together (which I don't think is that great to begin with)

Yea maybe it was that one. I dont like the beatles so that could have something to do with it too haha.
