I saw their video last week or so. They sound awesome! I went looking for the CD, but it's not out yet. I'll be picking this one up, no doubt.

| I liked the track Beneath The Machine. It was consistent in its sound. The other two tracks I didn't care for very much. The track Seconds seemed schizophrenic, as if the band didn't know where to go with it. The spoken word passages just don't work for me. The chorus pretty much sounded exactly like the chorus from Beneath The Machine. That song Zeppo sounded like everything else released in the melo-death / metalcore arenas during the last 7 or 8 years. Unoriginal and uninspired. Also, the vocals are a pretty 'meh'. _________________ You're cancer, you can't be the answer, you're killing me

| Unoriginal, sure. But if you're only looking for originality you're going to have a very small music collection. "Uninspired" is totally subjective, and I don't think it's uninspired. It's a great album for what it is. Great songs throughout the entire CD. As for the song "Second," that's a bit different from the rest of the songs, with it's programmed rhythm and such. It's not indicative of the rest of the album. |

I mean in the fact that there is nothing that sets it apart in any way. I'm not one of those "Oh, it has to be original" type of people (I'm a thrash nut, so originality isn't a make or break for me, obviously). But a band at least has to put their own stamp on what they do. I don't hear that with this group. I hear the same kind of stuff I've heard a million times before with nothing that commands my attention. To each his own, though. If you find them to be great, hey, more power to ya! I don't begrudge anyone their tastes, nor will I dog anyone for liking this or that band. _________________ You're cancer, you can't be the answer, you're killing me

| I keep coming back to this CD. I absolutely love this one. And the more I listen to it, the less I hear of modern influence. Sure, there's modern touches, but I really hear and old school style of metal here. This may make my top 5 on the year. |

| i saw em in concert with symphony x i believe. the singer reminded me of james hetfield so much; the way he sings, his hair, the sweatbands on his wrists, as well as the white explorer. the only difference was his hair colour | |

| I pulled the CD out again last week as well. There are a few songs I like, but a lot of stuff I don't. It's like they are not sure what they want to be, a thrash band, a metalcore band, some modern rock band. "Beneath the Machine" is the best song on the CD. It's also the song that seems to be on all the compilation CDs. Vocals have a Chuck Billy sound, which is cool.

ult I hear ya. I guess this is just how it goes with new bands, though. You know, there's kids out there right now that are like 12 years old, they're just learning to play guitar, and Trivium is their favorite band, the only band that matters. In a few years, after they can play every Trivium song, someone is going to finally convince them to give Testament's Practice What You Preach a listen, or some similar album, and it'll change their outlook on music completely. The result will be a kid who plays a mix of both styles. Every single song I write has a catchy chorus, or at least what I think is a big, catchy chorus. Why? Because Def Leppard was my first love, I think. My friends have always complained that my songs have 80s hooks! Haha. Whether punk, rap, death metal, rock, or heavy metal. It just comes out. And these newer bands are just doing the same. I don't think we can much get away from it until the cycle passes. Sanctity, I think, mix what's great about the old with what's great about the new, and they do it far better than most. Anyway, I think the song "Laws Of Reason" sounds a lot like Testament. The beginning reminds me of a song off The Ritual, and the second verse sounds like another Testament song. I think, anyway. I'm at work right now so I may be remembering wrong, but I know that's the song I've always thought sounded like Testament. |
