Other than Hanoi Rocks' Two Steps From The Move, Cacophony's "Go Off!" was the only cassette my friend and I torched ceremoniously as kids. Horrible stuff. This is an great example of the guitar wankery that people on the board like to mention so often.

I liked both Cacophony albums. Sure there was some guitar pyrotechnics, but there were actual songs and some of it was pretty darned good. I actually preferred the first album to "Go Off". Much of the Shrapnel catalog featured some guitar shred stuff.
I can't understand why your torch any metal album.

It's rock and roll! It's not suppose to be perfect IMO. Especially during the 80's, there was an attitude and air about metal that transcended good production or perfect recordings.
Actually, I think rock and roll and metal has lost some of that in the digital age. It's become so precise it's lost some of the feeling IMO. I often wonder if that's why I find so many of the newer bands so boring. Hmmm....

DO YOU JUST FOLLOW ME ROUND TO DISAGREE WITH ME!! i actually do agree with you tho with the feeling side of things, i see people just cutting and paste riffs in the studio all the time and you just know, feels robotic

Uhhhh, no I don't follow you around. You and I were just here at the same time and posting on the same thread. Also I wasn't disagreeing with you but rather agreeing. Yes, it's a but sloppy but I like it the way it is because of the reasons I listed.

I have Speed Metal Symphony which I like just fine. I'm not a huge fan of normal shred-fests, but I like both of these guys seperately, and the songs are catchy. I've never heard Go Off, but it's been on my want-list for awhile now. Anyone got a copy they want to get rid of, holla!

I love that 'Go Off" disc...if i had any crits on it it would be the heinously over produced vox....they sound totally unnatural to near the point of inhuman...

I have been playing the first album quite a bit this week for some reason. I far refer it to Go Off!, but they are both good discs. I prefer Marty's solo stuff to Jason's also...I was playing Music For Speeding just today, in fact.

That's why I'm firmly standing behind the bands that are dumping digital entirely and recording their albums on good old-fashioned tape! Earthless, Witchcraft, The Sword, Graveyard and many others....

Too much guitar wankery for my taste, but it's okay enough I guess.
