Kind of. Emo is more "I hate my life and want to cut my wrists and watch the blood drip on the floor and then paint with it" type music. It's kind of like the new goth.

yeah, I'm not even sure where I would hear it? Do they play it on the radio?

"Emo" is pop rock. Simple as that. People just say "emo" as an insult, to differentiate between what pop rock is acceptable and what is not.

That makes it even funnier when I think that they've named a whole genre after this tool.

You know what, the original "Emo" music was made by people who look just like Emo Phillips...messy hair, wrinkled sweaters, acoustic guitars, music about how thier hearts are broken...

The Goth element came later and now that's what "Emo" means to a lot of people, but that's now how it started...

I like Steven Wright, but Emo just grated on my nerves...same thing with Andy Kaufman
