| Yeah their alright.....
....Love the Huskers and their skewed life affirming pop metal songs, can't really say much more then that. Everything they did was brilliant....well their early stuff is a mess, but not without it's charm.
If you twist my arm i'd probably tell you Candy Apple Grey is my fav record....but if you twist my leg i'd tell you New Day Rising is the pinnacle of the Husker Du stack.

| "Candy Apple Grey" is where it's at..... "Zen Arcade" is overrated..... _________________ "Oh man, I need TV? When I got T Rex"

| They are probably one of the reasons I am such a mess. Minneapolis had ALOT of genius' running around here in the 80's. I even had to hide my Purple love from all my punk and metalheads friends.
You need to listen to Zen w/o kids/wife around, with the headphones on, loud. That's all I will say about that, Shine-ster.
Fav - New Day Rising.
If ya like Husker, Bob's 2 Pre-Sugar solo albums kickass in a very Huskeresque way, too. |

| I like Husker Du, but I love Bob Mould's solo (pre-Sugar) and Sugar stuff so much more. I always mean to try and track down Grant Hart's solo stuff.
Candy Apple Grey would be my clear favorite of theirs.

| Anyone know where they got their name? There's a rumour thet they got it from a famous (back in those days) TV program on the Norwegian Broadcasting Network (the only TV channel available in Norway during the 70's and early 80's). The program was of course called Husker Du (meaning Do You Remember?), and was a show where people sang old classic songs. VERY seldom was it pop music, but rather "old peoples music" if that makes sense. _________________ | |

| I always heard they saw it somewhere and thought it was cool, without knowing what it meant for a long time.
Btw, they played the homecoming dance at Edison HS when I was in 9th grade. Weird remembering them "punking out" Hall & Oates and Nena [ala 7 seconds]. Also did some Clash and old Police. It was the only time I ever saw them do "Love is all around" [Mary Tyler Moore" theme song] live. In my schools gym!! |

| Yeah, that was 1984 - when they STILL HAD live bands for dances. Now I hear it is just dj's. |

You all know I suffer from the same "Minneapolis Syndrome". It's good to know I'm not the only one with those emotional wounds. I've never really gotten over it I guess. Strangely, I did listen to "New Day Rising" today, before I knew this thread was here. Funny how that works.

| I never got to see Husker Du live, but judging from their dub free live release " The Living End" these guys sounded like they were incredibly loud. | |

It's too bad they all basically hated each other on that last tour. Those shows sounds really generic compared to a couple years earlier. |
