| My wonderful wife [you know her as Auntie Saxon], Ruth, and her best friend Annie [you know her as Sister Saxon] are doing an Arthritis Walk, in my honor. It is, simply put, the single sweetest thing anyone has ever done for me. So, if ya got a couple of bucks laying around, here is their page:
Auntie/Sister Saxon's Arthritis Walk
Many thanks in advance. And many thanks to those whom have already kicked in [you know who you are].
EDIT: Ruthie and Annie will be doing their walk tomorrow [Saturday 9.27]. There is still time to donate, if you wish. Ruthie is actually one of the leaders in fund-raising and I am super proud of her! I would personally like to thank and acknowledge those from this board whom have helped out.

| I'm gonna send a check in the snail. I'm glad I could do something for somebody. I've got a longtime friend with arthritis, and another that passed away about five years ago from side effects of prednisone used to treat his arthitis, so the check is in their honor. I have an auto-immune disease also (Crohn's disease); luckily after several surgeries I'm doing really well. I'm very sorry I won't be able to make the Earl Root tribute. I'm really bummed, but my Mom (91 years old) can't be left alone at this point anymore, so I'll have to miss. | |

| I get a 3 hour infusion every 6 weeks of a drug called Remicade. Apparently, it works dynamite for Crohns as well. Have you ever checked into that, bro? Changed my life!!
And thanks for the support. We will make sure the honor is placed in the proper name.
BTW, finally weening off prednisone [2 more weeks!]. Still gotta take 8 of methotrexate and the remicade and tons of ibu. But, ya gotta do what ya gotta do. I have 13 families' livlihoods depending on me. Know what I mean? |

| Yeah, I got a bunch of mailings from Remicade. It's nice to know it's there. Luckily I've been in remission since my last surgery. | |

| Just sent mine. My best friend suffered arthritis of the knees, had high blood pressure, and later in life; Congestive Heart Failure, insomnia, diabetes, and a host of other ailments. I remember days where his knees got so bad he could barely walk. Also, I might be effected as well. For the past 2 years I have had bad pain in my right wrist. Some days it's worse than others and some days I can't stand it. I have yet to get it looked at but now that I have health insurance and days off, I am going to have it looked at. | |

| Yeah DB, don't let that go too long.
I spent the better part of 2 years hopping from GP to Orthopedist to neurologist [!!] to every other jerkoff, until one of them finally "noticed something strange" in a blood work-up. He suggested I go see a rhuematologist. The DoR felt my knees, looked at my scalp and in 2 seconds declared "You have Rheumatoid Arthritis" [with a nasty little bug called psoriasis attached to the gene]. This was after. apparently, completely unneccessary surgery on my foot where they ripped out a bunch of nerves. To this day, you could take a hammer to my 3 middle toes, and I would not feel it. I have a bit of an attitude towards doctors. It used to take me 20 minutes to put on my socks. My big tough roommate would cry watching me, hobbling around with a cane at the age of 23.
I am only telling this story cuz the longer you wait, the worse and more irreversable those things can become. During that 2 years, one of my pinkies crinkled up/fused itself and stayed that way permanently. So I have had a 90 degree right angle on my left hand for 16 years. Serious stuff.

Although noone in my family suffers from arthritis, our late dog Shep was crippled, near the end he was nolonger able to run after the cows so I feel your pain, and thanks to the back wheel of the auld tractor, sheppy is now chasing cars in the sky........ |

| That is from my crew chief/ex-roommate/best bud. I used to introduce myself to people at the bar as "Karl with a "K" de Taint Pierce el Duce". Very effective [not]! Inside joke - out.
I am sure all the attorneys I work with are wondering about that, as well..... |

| Thanks you guys for your donations and thoughts and pictures of cats etc. The world is a better place because you're in it, I'm serious. Even Eyesore. The walk was a blast and this should be the last you'll see of this thread until next year because we're definitely doing it again!! |
