So, if I'm not mistaken, this is the right place to salute you all from cold, snowy Russia. Been reading the site, and it seems a great place to be.

Welcome, from Norway. Tell us more about yourself. Ironically there was a newsreport from Moscow on the tv here as I wrote this

Thanks for greetings. Not sure what to tell about myself though. A student (physicist) obsessed with music from the age of 11, because my dad gave me UDO's "Best Of" CD. I was hooked instantly. Love biking, working out, and activities in general. Oh, and i think Fates Warning (with Ray) is the greatest thing happened to music, so my opinion can be wrong sometimes. The nickname is from Family Guy.

Howdy all!
I just discovered this board today when google directed me to the awesome and envy-making Vinyl Collecting Thread.
My metal history goes as such: Converted to the hard 'n' heavy in 1981 by Let's Get It Up and Hot Rockin'. Stayed with it (mainly mainstream but with some diversion to Megaforce acts) until the arrival of Turbo Lover in 1986 which scared me away from metal's direction. I ignored "new" metal after that until 1998 when, due to getting a gig as "the metal guy" at a record shop, I discovered black metal and fell into that music head first.
The last few years I have been trying to discover (mainly through mp3's) the classic Thrash of the 1980's (to make up for my ignorance of the mid-late 1980's), and dreaming of one day having the funds to buy tons of those LP's.
I have a pretty extensive record collection but, sadly, due to my aversion to metal through the 90's (when I was mainly buying LP's), not much good old metal is in it.
Name: Ashley
Age: 44
Status: Married w/ two youngun's
Location: Vermont
Interests: H.P. Lovecraft, reading, collecting LP's and watching movies (crime, horror, sci-fi), playing Runescape (laugh all you want), futzing with computers
Favorite kind of Metal: NWOBHM, regular old Heavy Metal, Thrash, creepy occulty black metal.
Favorite bands: AC/DC, Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Scorpions, Vader, Mercyful Fate, Darkthrone, Dark Funeral, Burzum, Immortal... Non metal acts: Darkest of the Hillside Thickets, Blue Oyster Cult, God and Texas, Beastie Boys, Jethro Tull, Tom Waits, Butthole Surfers... Okay, that's probably enough.
Most desired LP's: Cirith Ungol's Frost and Fire and King of the Dead. Because not only are they awesome, but they have those awesome Michael Whelan "Elric" jackets.

Welcome! and don't mind Kurt, he's from norway. Although he may occasionally try to trade you some goats or chickens for your CD's.
