Anyone familar or willing to try this great Los Angeles band?

Probably my favourite rock n' roll band of the 00's. They are everything that was great about Cheap Trick, The Sex Pistols and Sweet all rolled into one.

Their songs from their debut should of been topping the charts and blaring out of your radio in the summer of 2000.

Great melodic Thin Lizzy like guitar's coupled with brilliant hooky power pop melodies. But these are not the usual Beatles like melodies you come to expect their more irresistible blinding neon orange popsicles.

They released a second album in '05 which was great but not as good as the debut which has over the years built up a huge cult following amongst the more sugar minded rock n' rollers.

.....Anyway at the moment they are kind of in hiding planning their comeback to finally take over the airwaves like they deserve to with their brand of infectious glam power pop punk hard rock n' roll.

Their debut blew me away! Not a bad song on the disc and as stated some insane hooks and guitar work! Agreed on the second CD. Good, but not the calibre of the first. Honorable mention is the EP that has some interesting cover tunes...

I think you passed it on to me, too, and I felt the same way. I viewed it, if I'm remembering correctly, as pop rock. Didn't sound much different from bands like Fall Out Boy to me.

....More along the lines of a less metal Wildhearts or a more hard rocked Urge Overkill.

It's cult status has grown crazily in the power pop underground scene.

Never seen that one, what covers are on it. I've heard their version of Sweet's Rebel Rouser.

I love how in 'Ordinary Gurl' they both reference Big Star with the title and cop a riff from 'Purple Rain'.

I couldn't get into them, but never gave the second disc a spin at all.

The EP is called "King Of The School EP (B-Sides and Demos)".
It came out on Hollywood Records in 2001 as a promo CD.
7 songs:
1. King Of The School (Demo)
2. Larger Than Life (Yes the BS Boys)
3. Silver Shifter (Remix)
4. You And Jim Will Hit It Off
5. Songwriter! (Live)
6. Afradio Pt. Two, Pt. Three and Pt. Four (Demo)
7. Smart Boys (Demo)

I bought mine off Evilbay probably 6 0r 7 years ago...

I'll be on the look out for that one, looks great.

I'm sure their cover of the Backstreet Boys rocks. Those kinda songs are begging for a hard rock makeover. Laughing

Not really pop punk maybe if you have to describe them, but power pop is a whole different and complicated genre.

Kinda hard to explain.
