RIP Stan Winston

I can't believe this one slipped by me. One of the greatest special effects creators/monster makers ever to live and work in the movies Stan Winston died on June 15th at the age of 62 from cancer. He created the famous alien for the Alien series, he did the special fx for the Terminator movies and won an Oscar for T2; Judgement Day among many others.

I've been a huge fan of his since I started watching movies and will, along with a lot of others miss the magic touch that he put on rather unbelievable movies.

R.I.P. Stan Winston you will be missed

Wow, I forgot he worked on Jurassic Park. He is a legend. Rest in peace.

Wow! This is a shock. He designed creatures for some of my favorite films (Aliens, Predator, etc.) -- R.I.P.

I thought of it but didn't know if anyone would remember Pumpkinhead. It was Stan's directorial debut, I understand that he was pretty bitter about it going direct-to-video.

I remember watching Jurassic Park for the first time I was just...Can't explain it...It was awesome. Still today this movie didn't really grow.

One of my favorite monster movies. It has a plot, character development and a really cool looking monster!

Wow....I haven't been on the computer much this week, which is where I get much of my info. Predator is easily my favorite action/sci-fi movie of all time. My brother and I used to know almost every line of this movie. When we share a beer at the bar, it's fair to say a line from that movie will come out of one of our mouths, and then more lines ensue. Aliens is probably my 2nd favorite of the same type of genre. The guy was truly an expert at his craft.

I don't know how many special effects/makeup artists are as well known? I will tell you this, the only other person I know that blew me away was Tom Savini of Friday the 13th fame.
