I don't think those bands sound alike at all so naming one that sounds like them is impossible for me.

No, they don't sound the same. You can do it like this...
Similar to Skid Row: FEAR NOT
Similar to Pretty Maids: PINK CREAM 69
Fifth Angel: HOUSE OF LORDS
or just name some bands that are similar to any of them.

Bar 7 is essentially Tesla.
ANd there are a lot of similarities between Gotthard and Tesla. Both use the patented "acoustic to hard rock" formula a lot. The singers are similar. Both bands have excellent musicians. And the overall sound is similar with Gotthard being a little more AOR.

I'm just looking for "generally in the same style", not necessarily clones.

Great list but I'm not sure how it applies to this thread.
Crystal Ball, Shakra, The Poodles, Wig Wam, Zan Clan are all great bands.

Well, I was being a bit sarcastic with that. Haha. But if Jeff wasn't on vocals, they wouldn't really sound like Tesla. And I don't think Gotthard sound like them at all.

We had a pretty cool little thread goin' on in the rock n' roll section that was similar to this, band suggestion and then a similar doppelganger!
As for Skid Row, would be all the Canadian S bands from the early 90's that were coping Skid Row's street metal schtick. Sven Gali followed by Slik Toxik and Slash Puppet.
Although i suggest little known LA strip band Sister Scream (Skid Row on crack, the song 'Wake Me Up" mashes anything Skid Row did into the ground)

Pretty Maids - I always thought that Pretty Maids in the 80's sounded a lot like Loudnes suring the 80's.
Tesla - Great White, perhaps?
Fifth Angel - V2

Fifth Angel I am unfamiliar with. If they are similar to House Of Lords that might be worth checking out.

I highly disagree with that comparison. Fifth Angel had a little bit of a Queensryche/Crimson Glory leaning which is NOT present in HOL.

Early PRETTY MAIDS sounded similar as early 220 VOLT, early EUROPE and early MAD MAX for exemple. TESLA like AEROSMITH FIFTH ANGEL like LEATHERWOLF (started like melodic us metal and changed into hard rock both bands)

I would second the mentions of Gotthard, Leverage and The Poodles and add melodic hard rock/metal band Brother Firetribe - False Metal to the list...

You know, everytime I listen to the pre-Anselmo Pantera it always reminds me of certain Pretty Maids. They both had that slick sound with a hard edge, although Pantera was much more amaturish. I know that comparison sounds crazy, but I hear it.
