MASH is tied for second with The Office behind Seinfeld - which is so good it shouldn't even count.

Anyone who contradicts me is wrong. Also, evil, dumb, merry, fem and bubba.

I love the Office. But The Office is no MASH. Bite your tounge, sir!

I'll concede this...The Office needs another 2 strong years to be truly in the pantheon, but for now it's strong. Very strong. I actually plan my time/schedule around The Office. I don't do that for any other TV except NFL football.

Are you just talking sitcoms? I want to contrdict you so I can qualify as all the above, but all I can come up with is SCTV or Monty Python.

Yeah, I don't know the original posters intent. I was thinking comedies. I'd throw in X-Files into the mix.

I'd throw Babylon 5 in there too. I have all the Monty Python episodes, all the Babylon 5 episodes, all the MASH episodes and all the Twilight Zone episodes.

Notice there's no Seinfeld in there. Ugh!

M*A*S*H....was the original "quicksand" show....I cannot turn the channels past an episode no matter how much time is left....I get immeadiately sucked in....

Great show all through out it's long long run....

I really liked it when I was younger, but I've watched it recently and I didn't find it as entertaining as I once did. I don't know why. Maybe the later episodes got a little too preachy? The whole Klinger in a dress seems so juvenile to me now, but it used to crack me up back in the day. Good show, but maybe overstayed it's welcome on tv. Meh, whatever. It was certainly better than After-M*A*S*H or Trapper John MD.

MASH does tend to get preachy as the seasons roll on. I'm watching all the episodes chronologically and there's even more moralizing in season 2 than in season 1.

I'm not positive about this and I'm too lazy to actually look it up, but in the later seasons, didn't Alan Alda start taking some creative control over the show? Directing or writing, possibly both. I think that's when it really started getting preachy and holier-than-thou. Some would say that's when the show "jumped the shark".

I remember an old joke in MAD Magazine saying that when the tv show(11 yrs?) ran longer than the actual war (3 years) it was based upon, it was time to pull the plug. Love the original movie though. Just watched that one not too long ago on cable.

Yeah, they were getting a bit weird at the end, but I like it all the same. It was an allegory about war, a little preaching should be included.

Once Larry Linville left, the show became much more serious. Still a great show though.

The "Tuttle" episode was hilarious.

It's ok.

OK, I've got my Bubba qualification down. Green Acres is actually my favorite sitcom of all time. Sienfeld is second. I am Bubba!

why thank you! If you throw x-files into the mix we have a lot of common ground. the first 5 seasons of that show were awesome!!

Exact - amen! I like it all, but the meaty mid-era X-Files was awesome. The Unnatural, although whimsical, is my all-time favorite episode.

SAHB - did you mention The Twilight Zone? That is an awesome show and one of my favorites as a kid when I caught it on syndication, of course.

i guess because everything i've seen him in afterwards, he has played his exact same MASH character, with certain variations. he's just not a strong actor. he worked well on MASH, but nothing else. i grew to dislike him.

M*A*S*H is definetly not the best show. That goes to Sesame Street!
