Not only is Rod a great singer, he has undoubted hard rock/heavy metal pedigree.

He was the singer on the first 2 Jeff Beck Group albums in the late 60's, very important to the birth of Heavy Metal and many believe their ablum Truth (1968) to have beaten Led Zeppelin to the first actual 'Heavy Metal' album.

Not only that he was in the Faces in the early 70's, one of the hardest rockin' bands going around.
