So I dusted off my Gruntruck CDs today. Such an underrated band. Any fans? I was just checking to see if they had any presence on the internet and came across this:
Ben McMillan died from diabetes on January 26th, 2008.
Wow! That sucks. He was the singer/guitarist. Did anyone hear anything about this anywhere?

You're sure you're not making this up? I've not heard of most of these bands....

I really like the Push album. Haven't heard anything else.
For some reason my brain associates them with Barkmarket, which is another great band. (I gotta pull those discs out now)

BARKMARKET rules..."Visible Cow" is the greatest groove ever...
GRUNTRUCK were great...made up of remnant members of SKIN YARD, right?
yeah, I read that Ben died earlier this year....I think it was in A.P. or something....

I guess that came out on L Ron, because I have never heard of that and I don't have that particular CD.
Gruntruck still rules!

Not sure if you'd like them, but they sort of lumped in with the grunge crowd. I guess they're similar, but they're more like early Soundgarden, which, if you ask me, wasn't grunge.
I really like Push. I had no idea they had any other albums though.

Yeah, Inside Yours is their other full-length. It came out before Push. They put out a "comeback" EP in the 90s, but I've never seen it anywhere. I'd love to find a copy.

Haven't listened to Push in many years. I'm not even sure I own it anymore. But back then I was really into that record.
I actually always associate these guys with Seaweed for the simple reason that when I did college radio I would always make cassette mixes from all the CDs that would come through. Usually this was during my show so I would not write down the titles or groups. So then listening later would confuse the two. Happened all the time.

It's only been nine years since anyone posted in this thread, but wtf. I'm not a huge fan, haven't really followed much of what they've done, but I do own the Push CD, and plan on getting their other one. I just read they had a third album recorded, but for legal reasons it was never released. Guess they got it settled, cause I read they will be releasing it soon.

It's funny how you learn new things all the time. I had no idea till today that Tommy Niemeyer from The Accused was in Gruntruck. I've been a fan of The Accused for years, but never read up on them. Guess you'd say I'm a casual fan, but still been listening for twenty plus years.
Also makes me wonder if he's the one I met in a place I've made deliveries too once about a year ago in this warehouse near Seattle. The guy was signing for the shipment and I saw these really cool black and white photos of a band on stage hanging up in the back. I asked him who the band was and he said Gruntruck. I was shocked because I just got done listening to Push on the way to work that day. He was shocked I knew of them. I never got around to asking him if he was in the band, but after looking at some pictures of Tommy Niemeyer, I'm thinking it was him.
I should have paid more attention the last time I saw The Accused live, but until now I didn't know there was such a connection between them and Gruntruck. Been bugging me who that guy was, and I won't rest till i find him lol
Anyways, any fans of Gruntruck will be happy to know they have a new album coming out soon.

I recently revisited both of their album and both have made the cut to stay in my collection. I'd be interested in hearing something new from these guys.

There was an EP "Shot, Illusion, New God" from 1996 which was equally excellent.
And from the "new" unreleased 3rd album:

People have been recommending this band to me for years 'n years but I never got around to checking 'em out. Yesterday I came across a used copy of Push in my favorite second hand shop for only three bucks so I took a chance on it. First spin impression, pretty cool stuff, definitely has a Soundgarden-y vibe. Sounds like a keeper thus far.
