Speaking of doom, I recently found out that Novembers Doom is re-releasing their first two albums. They will be on my radar next time I'm CD shopping.

I've really been digging this EP, they are still developing but show promise.

A while back I heard a 3 disc comp (Doomed) of various doom and stoner bands bands and heard some good stuff. Bands that stood out for me were Astrosoniq, Atomic Bitchwax, Black Rock, Borgo Pass (probably the best song on the comp), Cathedral (the only band I was familiar with), Hangnail, Magnafied Eye, Mothercake, Orange Goblin, Peacemaker, Puny Human (the title Jesus Has My Legs made me laugh), Sea Of Green, Shallow, Sheavy, Slow Horse, Solace, Speedking, Sunride, Supercruiser, Tectonic Break, Tummler, and The Want.

Found some bands that can be added to the bad band name list:

For some reason the "epic doom" stuff just doesn't gel with me, I've tried, but so far haven't been able to really get into it.

Don't know if these guys have been mentioned and I don't feel like going back 6 pages, but I've been recently been rocking Spirit Caravan quite a bit.

It's yet another band featuring Wino Weinrich, so if you know the man, you know what to expect. Doom, friggin' doom!

Actually, Wino isn't in Spiritual Beggars (Wino's group was Spirit Caravan). Spiritual Beggars started as a side project by one of the guitarists from Arch Enemy.

D'oh!! That's who I meant. Spirit Caravan. Listening to Elusive Truth as I type this. Spiritual Beggars are a good one though too. More stoney than doomy, but still good.

It's cool, I had them confused at first too.

Spirit Caravan is my favorite Wino group, absolutely love the vibe of their recordings.

My Doom tastes run kinda wide...

I like the groove and vibe of bands like Place Of Skulls, Lamp Of Thoth, Grand Magus, Pentagram, Argus, Penance...

Then I love the dark, epic vibe of Candlemass, Solitude Aeturnus, early Trouble, Isole...

Then I love the slow, deeply dark processions of bands like Evoken, Nortt, Thergothon and Esoteric...

Bring me the DOOM!!!

one of my favorite "slow and heavy" albums is finally available again, reissued by Southern Lord...
