Some weeks ago I bought the CD "Richard Anderson's Space Odyssey - Embrace the Galaxy". I never heard before of the band Space Odyssey, neither from Richard Anderson. I took this CD only because the vocals are done by Patrik Johansson whom I knew form bands like Astral Doors, Wuthering Heights and Lion's Share. I liked "Embrace the Galaxy" from the first listen and played it several times the last weeks. It is perfect Power Metal album with stress on the keyboards.

I checked the web page of Richard Anderson and found out that he is the man behind the bands Space Odyssey, Time Requiem and Majestic. All similar bands but with slightly different alignment. Beside different songs from all those bands he offers a MP3 download of the complete album "Time Requiem - Optical Illusion". I downloaded this and after a listen it is clear for me that I must get more of Richard Anderson's albums.

I wonder if there are more fans here on the board. What do you think about them? And what can you recommend me to buy from his albums next?

Here is the url to his web site

I have a promo CD of some sort of greatest hits by this fellow. I think he also was in Majestic?

Big fan here. Love the Space Odyssey and Time Requiem albums. I've not heard Majestic, though. Nor the very latest Space Odyssey album. The Ultimate Andersson Collection album (of re-recordings) is also good, but Goran Edmund doesn't do justice to the Johansson tracks. Johansson simply has more power and grit. He doesn't do a bad job, not at all; but I'm so used to the originals that the re-recordings just sounded flat to me. Still a solid album, though.

I've been looking for Majestic's albums for years now but I've never seen them around here.

I have both of them. They are very solid, imho.

Beside the Ultimate Anderson Collection which could be a good staring point for me to explore more, are there any Space Odyssey or Time Requiem albums which you could recommend over others, Eyesore?

I like Embrace The Galaxy the best, but The Astral Episode is a great album as well. Like I said, I don't have the very latest Space Odyssey album so I can't comment on that one. But if you like Embrace The Galaxy, you'll dig The Astral Episode.

As for Time Requiem, they're more of a Malmsteen kind of power metal band. Very over-the-top with the guitars and keyboards, but solid performances from all. Unlike Malmsteen, I think they have great songs. There's also a heavy neo-prog influence.

I don't actually own Optical Illusion, so we should both buy it HERE. It's $6. Sweet deal.
