So today I did something that I almost never do. Go to a used CD shop. I'm glad I did, because I found something I never knew existed. I am a sucker for traditional metal and I picked up Witchkiller's Day of the Saxons EP.
Holy crap! This is freakin' awesome. It's just an ep, and they never made an LP, but I can't imagine any metal fan not digging this stuff. Take a listen.....
Anyone else like these guys?

I found this yesterday. Kind of weird, huh? I also had never heard of it. I figured if I didn't like it I could sell it on eBay. I love it, though! It's killer. And it doesn't even sell for much on eBay, which tells me they're either very unknown or people don't like them.

Apparently it's still in print and available through Metal Blade. I had the same thought process, if it sucked, it should be good EBay material, but I really dig it. This band had some serious potential.

Yeah, it has that $100 eBay look. Haha. It's always the albums that look like they'll sell for $4 that go for $100. Case in point, that crappy CDR promo of one of Tarja's EPs that Locky gave me for free and I sold for $96. Haha.
But yeah, this is a really good EP. I'm assuming not many people know about it.

Great band that never really went anywhere. This is another of those discs that would be worth paying big dollars for. Luckily we don't have to.
October 31 did a great cover of the title track on their debut, really did the song credit.

great band. everyone who digs them should also check the aceium-wicked metal lp. actually this was their demo from 1982, released on vinyl many years later, with dough adams, the throat of witchkiller...actually some aceium tracks were used in some witchkiller demos and never made it for an official release...

Yeah, WITCHKILLER was a great band. Have this on vinyl. They made so many more songs but never official released. I have a tape with many of those songs on it from 1983(LIVE MONTREAL ยด83). Also have two of their demos, one from 82 and one from 84 that i got from tapetrading in a far past.

Yep, great metal. The guitar player went on and formed another band called WAR HAG or SEA HAG or something like that. They did a remake of the song "Day of the Saxons" I believe.

did some research and the guitarist (kurt phillips) moved on and formed warhag (traditional) who are unsigned and active the others apparently didn't do anything after the split though the vocalist (douglas adams) and the bassest (todd pilow) were in a band called reckless together, they released two albums then folded the same year as witchkiller.
well at least kurt didn't give up

Sometimes it takes just one small step into the music industry for people to realize it's not quite for them. Haha.

I found this on ebay a few months ago. I paid around $5 for it. I had always heard the name before but never heard them until I bought it. I was thinking I should have been owning this disc for years.
