It's uncanny Ult isn't it, it's like seeing DLR singing for a sleazy blues n' country rock n' roll band. I wish more people would know about this band and the influence they had particuarly on DLR.

I first saw Van Halen at a theater in Pasadena in 76' and thought the same thing regarding DLR and Jim Dandy back then. I saw Black Oak a few years earlier at the California Jam in Ontario, which was my first consert.

Other than that I've passed.... never heard anything forward!!! HA...

If you listen to Jim Dandy's singing I am also convienced that Axl Rose must have been a huge Black Oak fan when he was growing up.

I always thought of Jessie James DuPree more than David Lee Roth but I do see the similarities. I only have one of their releases on cassette tape but I may have to get some more one of these days.

I agree , I see it more in Depree as well. Though early Dave LOOKS a lot like Jim Dandy.

My first concert. 1975 I think. I got the "BOA-the first 30 Years" dvd for my last birthday. Awesome stuff.
