Tempest

I'm not talking about the Rowe brothers band from the 80s, but the celtic rock band. Any fans? Being a lover of good celtic music and good rock music it was inevitable that I'd become a fan of these guys. I love their music, its very melodic, many times very upbeat and fun to sing along with. I don't know if I should ever admit this to anybody, but many of their songs give me the irresitable urge to dance an Irish jig or play air fiddle. The interesting thing is founding member Lief Sorbye is not of Irish but Norwiegen. In Norway after playing with several garage bands he was introduced to Celtic folk music and the rest is history (they've been around for over a decade). I have several albums by this band and while it's OK, I have several other Celtic rock bands I like better. Wolfstone and Oysterband come to mind immediately. I also really like an older band called Horslips. And then there are the punk brethren to bands like this; Dropkick Murphys and Real McKenzies. And don't forget Young Dubliners and Flogging Molly.

Yeah, I'm w-a-a-a-y into the Celtic rock scene.

Forgot to mention Great Big Sea.

Have you heard Ballydowse? They are also celtic punk.

I didn't care for the vox. Very much like some of the Pogues stuff which I can only handle in small doses.

I was hoping this thread was about Warren Harris original Christian Thrash Metal Band 'Tempest' from chicago... released a brilliant demo 'Annilation of The Wicked' in 1985. Featured in Metal Hammer.... color photos and everything...

I thought this was going to be a thread about the ill-fated American talk show of the same name featuring the loveable Tempestt Bledsoe.

my mistake.... much realized after it was posted... it was the ole kneejerk reaction....

I thought it was gonna be about Jon Hiseman's post Colosseum rock band from 1972.
