| I was incorrect on the Scorpions "Tokyo Tapes". In that case, the original German CD pressing had all the tracks, whereas the easier to find remastered CD is missing "Polar Nights". _________________ ULTIMATUM - TOO METAL FOR WIKIPEDIA!

| I'm kind of a collector, kind of not. I want the originals and will hold out on buying an album (that has been reissued, obviously) in an attempt to eventually nab the original CD press at a decent price. I've done this with several albums with varying degrees of success (Assassin, Morbid Saint, Intruder, etc). I am NOT a collector in the sense that I will not buy every album a band puts out if I think a certain release is a stinker. If I won't listen to it, I won't get it. I don't collect for the sake of possessing something (and I'm sure there are PLENTY of those types around somewhere). It has to be something I will listen to and enjoy. _________________ You're cancer, you can't be the answer, you're killing me

| I love collectors, though, as they've payed (what I consider) outrageous amounts for a cd I was selling. I'm sure Saxon is/will be benifitting greatly from this fact. | |

| 1st pressings - because of the artificial feeling, history matters, smell They just have some special magic for me, as I simply feel cool holding something in my hands that was released 20 years ago - god knows where that particular CD is been through the time (btw, has anyone watched the movie 20 Bucks, I recall Steve Buscemi playing in it - it's about the journey of 20 dollar bill). The reissues feel kinda "plastic" to me, and I stopped buying reissues completely (at least the recent ones) + I've sold mostly all I had (I have usually waited with that until I got the 1st press), except for my all time favorites, which will stay in my collection (like Twisted Into Form rereleases) or will be sold when I get my hands on the original release (like Time Does Not Heal). + 1 thing that bothers me with reissues: They look to "fancy", to colorful etc. for my taste - while I love the ultra-cheap price killers CDs or that great simple white booklets of old Atlantic releases. So in short, 1st pressings for me | |

+1. I am still in love with vinyls but i agree with FAT FREDDY on this one.

Might as well do it now, before the world economy implodes. |

| i prefer 1st pressing more. i don't like any reissue with bonus tracks and alternative artwork or something like that. with such reason, i don't buy Japanese CD (except for Japan only album) (even though i used to sell Japanese CDs ) i love my old B/W photo. i don't want to change them into color one with high quality. | I can see both points of view. Metal fans tend to be very passionate and if collecting 1st pressings betters the experience, then so be it.
However I have only so much money and there is much metal out there that when it comes down to $50 for a 1st press or $10 for a reissue...well guess who wins.
Luckily I've been collecting long enough to have alot of 1st pressings and a bigger than average collection.
High paying collectors have made me a lot of money though, thanks guys. |

| There are a few cases where i've hunted down originals.
On Megadeth's debut, I looked forever for a copy with These Boots.

| For me its whichever one is a beefier package, its rare that a re-release has more photos, liner notes or whatever than the original but if it does I would totally go for the reissue. I'm crazy because I'll buy a $30, $40 used original on amazon just to say I have the original or if it has a bigger insert. I've seen such cheap reissues of some stuff before, like the entire insert being only one page with no lyrics. | |

| As a collector, most recently I'm torn between the original and the reissue of Fastway's "Waiting For The Roar" and the reissue, their both around the same price, but the remaster has a bonus track, and much better packaging. | |

by he way the reissue has a marvellous unreleased track I don't think it was unreleased. I think it was already available on a compilation CD somewhere. _________________
