Shocked

Are you a downloader, then? I mean, that's a ridiculous amount of space. At 128kbps (no need to go higher), my entire collection of about 6,000 discs could be ripped to a terabyte external. Crap, a 500GB external would hold 6,000 CDs.

Is my math right? I'm horrible at math. I'm alloting 70MB for each CD. That's average for a full-length, so it's even going higher since my collection has a ton of EPs and singles. Still, 70MB times 6,000 CDs is 420,000MB. That's 420GB, right? It seems so simple, yet I'm totally unsure of myself when it comes to math. Haha.

Yeah they are a lot bigger than an MP3. They are a lossless format for encoding audio files. MP3 is lossy. I've heard that you can't tell the difference with MP3's recorded at a decent bit-rate but I don't know. I just read somewhere where FLAC is the best way to go. WINAMP reads FLAC, might need a plugin though. I don't know about WMP though. I don't think so. Recently I have been using I-tunes and I can't tell the difference with my old ears. Sounds as good as I guess I'm going to get considering I listen through Bose In Ear phones most of the time.

We ought to move this thread, it is a worthy discussion since I am also asking for a recommendation that might blow Bose Tri-port headphones out of the water for not much more or less money.

Hmm, never thought about it quite like that but I guess so. Laughing
I assume the band name was inspired by this album...
