Their kinda like a black eye bruised AC/DC with a mean slide guitar......every bit as classic as AC/DC, Motorhead, Thin Lizzy or who ever you care to name.

I knew Guns n Roses covered them, and hair metal band 'Keel covered Rock n Roll Outlaw" I assumed it was a Keel original I had no idea it was a cover tune, also read that the late great Bon Scott was friends with Angry Anderson, again I donot know how I missed these guys. But I am glad you turned me on this band, thanks dude.

Sad news......
"Rose Tattoo guitarist and founding member Mick Cocks has been diagnosed with liver cancer.
In a statement, the band’s manager Steve White said, "Mick has asked that I release this information to avoid the rumour mill taking control of information. The situation is that Mick has been diagnosed with liver cancer and is now under the advice of the very best doctors in Sydney.Treatment plans are underway and Mick is in good spirits and ready for a fight".
Cocks was there at the start of The Tatts in 1976. He has also been a member of the Ted Mulry Gang and Heaven.
Rose Tattoo lost Pete Wells 2006, Ian Rilen 2006 and Lobby Loyde in 2007 all to cancer."
I hope he pulls through, but that's rotten luck considering what has happened in the past 3-4 years.
Anyone who thinks Malcolm Young is underrated as a rhythm guitarist should bend an ear towards Mick's playing particuarly on the first Rose Tattoo record and songs like "Remedy", "Astra Wally" and "Nice Boys". The meanest tightest rhythm guitar sound you'll ever hear, just relentless. Also he was not a bad lead player as well, as he had to do both Rhythm and Lead in Rose Tattoo because other guitar partner Pete Wells was exclusively playing the slide guitar. That dynamic made up one of the most unique guitar duo's in rock n' roll.

That's sad news. Creepy too that they've lost 3 other members to cancer, with a 4th presumably on the way. I'll give ol' Rosey a spin this weekend in their honor.
Keel's version of 'Rock n' Roll Outlaw' sounds so weak compared to the original. Whose the bigger rock n' roll outlaw here? A poofy hair metal singer in spandex from the 80's or a bald tattooed fidget that was in Mad Max?

A bit of Rose Tattoo related news, guitarist Pete Wells (RIP) used to work there as well............
Tattoo parlour fire may be linked to bikie gang feud
Police are investigating whether a dispute between rival bikie gangs may have been behind a fire at a tattoo parlour owned by a former member of the rock group Rose Tattoo.
The blaze at House of Pain, in Annandale, was spotted shortly before 12.30am yesterday and neighbours in adjoining units had to be evacuated.
The parlour is owned by Steve King, who played with Rose Tattoo from 2000.
Mr King was believed to have been a member of the Nomads gang, but may have switched his allegiance and joined the Hells Angels shortly before Christmas.
The Hells Angels have been on a recruitment drive and Mr King is believed to be one of five Nomads who defected to the group, along with their former national president Scott Orrock. Such changes can cause tension between rival gangs, according to the bikie expert Arthur Veno.
''There's a strong correlation between recruiting drives and inter-club tensions,'' Dr Veno told the Herald last month.
''The growth of one club can also have a flow-on effect on other clubs. A recruitment drive in one club tends to spark a recruitment drive in others in response.''
Mr King displayed guitars from his time with Rose Tattoo in the parlour on Parramatta Road as well as other music memorabilia, all of which is thought to have been destroyed in the fire.
A year ago the nearby Hell's Angel's clubhouse on Crystal Street, Petersham, was blown up and shots fired into another tattoo parlour on Parramatta Road.
Four men associated with the Nomads were arrested at Kings Street Wharf after an assault on nightclub bouncers about 12.30am yesterday.

Interesting, but nice boys don't play rock n' roll after all do they?
Damn shame we've lost so many members of the band, one of my favorites!
