Sad news. Loved his work in Iron Maiden and Battlezone.

Oh that's too young. Sad.
But he left us with some great music. Some of the greatest music.

Yeah that was some shitty news to wake up to yesterday. R.I.P. Paul. Will be jammin' the first two Maidens for the next couple of days for sure.
Earlier this year (just as I was retiring from writing music reviews) I got a promotional e-mail about his latest project, "Warhorse," but I didn't think much of the tracks so I never bothered doing a write up on it. Now I feel bad. Sorry, Paul.
R.I.P. sir, and thanks for the metal.

Paul had written a memoir a while back. I’m not sure if it’s available anymore… but if it isn’t, it probably will be soon.

It was nice to read that Bruce and Paul didn't have any real outstanding beef with each other. I was always under the impression that they had bad blood, but it seems that was overblown.
Those first two Maiden records are special, Paul was perfect for the material. There's only very few Di'anno era tracks that Bruce can do any real justice on, imo. RIP.

I remember Paul being known for bending the truth a lot. He said a lot of made up things as a joke, and the book also has a lot of fabrication. He didn't maybe do all that to make himself look good, but to just have a laugh.
It doesn't mean the book can't be good. Just don't think it's all true.
I mean, look at his Wikipedia entry (I read it yesterday):
Di'Anno's religious affiliation was made uncertain by his own words; he gave interviews that contradicted each other on this subject, perhaps as a practical joke. He had a tattoo on the back of his head that said "666" and "GOD = SUCKER".[43] According to his autobiography, he converted to Islam in the 1990s after reading the Quran. However, he later reversed that position, saying "I think religion kills everybody. I don't believe in it. ... No, my father was a Muslim, I must admit. But I don't give a fuck."[44] In later interviews, Di'Anno clarified that he never was a true Muslim, that he never stopped drinking, but tried to become a better person by applying some of the Muslim philosophies to his life. His autobiography furthers the confusion: in various passages he claimed to be Muslim, Catholic, Jewish, and Aboriginal.

Yeah I knew it was known for being not truthful. But I had read a few passages a long time ago and it was amusing.
Someone will make a new one by interviewing his friends and family. The same way that guy did the Alice In Chains book.

You Suck
Just a wee bit of research shows that his hooking up with dudes that helped with most current album came after his book. Dudes on album or Croatian (Do the math) Croatia is "Old School Red & White", you earn "Support Status" and cannot purchase a "Support 81" like too many American Chapters of the H-A sling on Ebay or a Bike Show (pathetic)

I was joking of course.
I have no idea why he did what you said. Maybe he liked their soccer team.
