I'm not fanatic about all of them, but I enjoy those last four a lot too. And Within Temptation. And a bunch of others.

Oh hey and if solo counts as a "band" too then Blaze Bayley and Rob Rock both would rank quite high.

Wait, I need clarification. Are we listing bands whose best releases (in their own discography) were recorded post 2000, or are we listing bands in a scenario where nothing exists before the year 2000? The former vaguely eliminates bands that had a classic release prior to the year 2000, the latter includes them, only discounts those specific releases from the comparison.

Like how Death Angel had great releases in the 80's and 90's. In the former scenario they could not be included because their "best releases" (whatever that means) were not all 2000+. While the latter scenario means they get in, just short their earlier releases.

My understanding is these are just bands that were putting out the best metal releases between 2000 til now…

I don’t necessarily think it’s their best in their careers. If so, I’ll need to remove these and start over. My favorite releases are from the 80’s and early 90’s.

The way I interpreted it is just bands who have a good output post 2000, not what they did before 2000. I think were all thinking of older bands. Vektor's output is awesome and they started in 2006. So really, I'm ignoring previous releases and focusing purely on albums post 2000 regardless of their discography in the past.

Maybe James will clarify a bit more…

I’ll stand by my selections that those bands had a string of very good to great output past 2000 to present day. I’m ignoring their undisputed classic albums from the 80’s and early 90’s.

I get it now, but it wasn't very simply stated at all. Bands whose best overall albums were released between 1960 and 1970 would not include Deep Purple, even that they did release albums in the 60's. To include them you'd have to rank The Book of Taliesyn ahead of In Rock and Fireball.

I’m doing this my way (even though it’s James B’s thread).

My list is bands that had high quality releases after 2000 to the present. My list doesn’t necessarily represent the best albums those bands ever recorded.

If I’m disqualified… so be it.

4. Municipal Waste
5. Megadeth

The band's existence before 2000 is irrelevant, much less if you liked the earlier stuff better.  If applicable.

I don't understand the confusion!?!

So I did it right the first time! But Lari made me doubt myself.



That being said…
At least three people weren’t completely sure at first. The word “irrelevant” (regarding the previous years before 2000) made the difference to me. I somehow thought the question could have been about a band’s post 2k output being their best overall in their existence.
