Yea I wasn't sure about that one, but Discogs lists it as a 1999 release for all versions (US and Europe), so I took their word for it.

Discogs has a lot of mistakes. Wikipedia has an actual date (8th February 2000), which seems about right. My very clear memory of getting it on CD was the week of release and it was January IMO (maaaaybe February), but it definitely wasn't '99 because I had been expecting it a long time, and because I started in the navy in January 2000 and it was on one of my very first weekend leaves, definitely not before I joined. It's one of those things you remember. Like AC/DC Stiff Upper Lip and Stratovarius Infinite also, I picked those up new while doing my service, around the same time, maybe different weekends. Easy to remember.

Unless there was an earlier release somewhere else in the world, but my print is the same (based on spine number) that's listed as '99 on both Discogs and Rateyourmusic, but Jan/Feb 2000 in other places.

I took out my CD from the shelf and maybe the confusion is that it says 1999 Steamhammer on it. Because obviously you have to print the discs and copyright everything before release date. And if it was a January (or a February) release, then it's going to be stamped 1999 regardless of when the consumer sales actually start.

It was still recorded in 1999 so it's basically semantics. It really doesn't actually matter, except on these "album of the year" type of lists where suddenly it's very annoying.
