Colorado Avalanche (1st in Central Division) vs. Edmonton Oilers (2nd in Pacific Division)
Colorado finally got the monkey off their backs, advancing to the third round of the playoffs for the first time since 2002. Edmonton reigned Supreme in the Battle of Alberta in the second round series against Calgary to advance to the Western Conference Final for the first time since 1996. Edmonton and Colorado are the top two teams offensively in the playoffs thus far. The two teams have met twice in the playoffs in the past. Colorado won in five games in the second round back in 1997, while Edmonton defeated Colorado in seven games in the first round the following year.
