I just hit the forum and didn´t find the introductions thread by a quick search. So... let me introduce myself:
I am Devin´s Child.
No, I am not the real son of Devin Townsend even I wished to be, but I am an Europian music lover who wants to discus of music.
With music I go on harder edge the ones who are:
All related to Devin Townsend (not Ziltoid though) Katatonia Motörhead Dream Theater Paradise Lost In Flames Teramaze (newer productions) Slayer Death
... and many, many, many other bands/artists with charizma and talent
On softer edge: Sting Sade Police U2
90 percent of me wants the harder edge, but then there are rainy days, romantic moments with my wife and cleaning days when I just want to mellow myself into cotton wool. So there you go.
I am professional photographer, but I have done different things before that ( like studying theology, doing journalism, taking care of a troubled kids etc).
Who wants to play with me, or should I ask: Come out and play (with me).

What’s a Ziltoid? Sounds like something that needs to get popped.

Kind of a goofball idea that Devin Townsend had and probably took too far, but he made two killer albums out of it.
It started like this...
And progressed to this...
Really goofy stuff, but the albums are fantastic. Lots of goofball interludes on the second one, but thankfully a bonus disc was included that excluded most of that stuff.

You know this is kind of a question of which of your children you love more.
And if you think an artist that is as eccentric as Devin is, there are works you just can´t compare starting from great Strapping Young Lad, going through Ocean Machine to the Project. And yes there is this goofy Ziltoid and the great hunt of the perfect cup of coffee.
But lately I´ve been listening quite heavily Deconstruction and I think it is absolutely breath taking album.

Interesting and very eccentric. But that is exactly what Devin is known for.

I don't think I've ever heard anything from Devin Townsend (and I haven't clicked on those embedded videos).

I only have his album “Transcendence” from the Devin Townsend Project. I was kinda into some of his easy listening chill music.

Like Ocean Machine?
That is something I listen, when I'm home alone and want to drown into my sofa with a nice glass of scottish single malt.
Sometimes while making dinner for my family I´ve tried to listen some Devin, my kids come and ask me to put that crazy sounding man away

Yeah. It’s good to have some relaxing moments... as opposed to “Angel of Death” dinner time with the family.
