Vai or Saturani

Both unique guys. Innovative. Likable.
Do you have a special preference ?
Especially if you could see one “ live “ in concert ?

Not familiar with any of the two.

I only own one or two Steve Vai albums, that i haven't played in over a decade.

My local record shop has most of Satriani's releases on cd. Any special one you'd recommend?

I prefer Meemstlam.

I like Whitesnake, so Vai. Satriani is maybe less metal anyway.

It's not Via. That's latin for "road". His name is Vai. It's not even that hard. It's even pronounced that way. Three letters, probably one of the easiest non-English names you could imagine.

If your name only had three letters, and you'd be one of the most famous guitarists in the world, you would expect people to put those three letters in the correct order.

I'm a hockey fan. We even do Peter Sidorkiewicz and Matt Grzelcyk and Krzysztof Oliwa and Wayne Gretzky. Steve Vai is the easiest name I ever saw in my life.

I know he did a lot of stuff, but this is what I remember Vai for:

He is a legend.

What about Paul Gilburt, Jason Beeker or Marty Freeman?

George Lunch was pretty good in Dolken.

Satriani for me. Surfing for me is the epitome of great instrumental music.

Joe for me.  I remember buying his 1st lp with the original artwork. I told people about him for a year, Of course a year later everybody knew who Satch was..

I also saw him in the band the Squares? So I knew of him.

How can you talk about Steve Vai and not mention Ralph Macchio aka Lightning Boy!

I’m a big fan of Satriani’s Flying in a Blue Dream album. That alone does it for me. But he also made other great albums like Surfing with the Alien and The Extremist.

He was the teacher of Vai, Kirk Hammett, Alex Skolnick and many other well known players.

I HAVE TO watch that movie again ! Crossroads !

Flying was good but his singing was not needed. The Extremist rocks!

An old girlfriend used to roll her eyes and say “ Yngwie Migraine”.

And of course Angus Young is now being called “Angus Old”.

I like his Wolfman Jack voice.

I like what Vai did with Zappa and the flex-able stuff was funny

Van is more interesting, Joe is probably more versatile?

Don't listen to Joe much anymore, if at all.
