Anyone heard these guys? I picked up their cd "Closing In" when Tower Records was having their going-out-of-business sale. Good stuff!

http://www.myspace.com/earlyman

from Wikipedia...

Early Man is a two-piece heavy metal band from Columbus, Ohio, but now based in Brooklyn, New York. Mike Conte is the guitarist and vocalist. Adam Bennati plays the drums. The story is that Conte and Bennati were shielded from the world by their Pentecostalist parents until age 19, when they discovered rock music. Influenced by bands such as Black Sabbath, Mercyful Fate, Judas Priest, Celtic Frost, and Minor Threat, their classic but inventive sound caught fire quickly and they were signed by Monitor Records, who released their first EP in early 2005. Larger label, Matador, quickly signed them to a better deal and agreed to release their debut LP, Closing In, in the fall of the same year. Recently, a bass guitarist and a 2nd guitarist, Pete Macy, have been added to the band's tour lineup.

Outstanding band! They're like thrash-meets-80s metal-meets-stoner with John Arch and some other dude on vocals.

I'm bringing this one out of the archives too since I'm listening to it at work today. Feel free to discuss.

These guys have a new ep coming out in October. Check out the new song "Sinking the Blade". Pretty thrashy and the singer is using a lower, presumably more natural voice.

Turn off the player and scroll down to the 2nd video to see/hear the new song.

Yeah, looking forward to this EP! They're apparently doing one of Relapse's Speed N Spikes 7" EPs, too.

This new song is killer, too! Thanks for the update! 🤘

Great band! I need to pull this one out again. I do hear the Ozzy vibe in the voice, White_Mage. And thanks for the update Metal Guy. I'll be watching for the EP.

When I first got this, the chorus to "Like G-D Rat" was stuck in my head for days!
"Death Is the Answer" was the single off of this and got some time on Headbangers Ball.

Sweet deal on the new EP. CD, LP (limited to 500) and a t-shirt for $24.99. Great price, and the samples there indicate a killer little EP.

What does that first track remind you of? Is it "Holy Wars...?"

They probably don't make the shirt in a XXXXL anyway.

I've checked.

That's ok. I usually get a medium to show off my delectible man-boobs and belly. Chicks dig it. Shows self-confidence.

same here, especially in the video where he goes "death is the answear to my prayers". I'm not sold on them. I need to hear something off of the new cd before they go on the want list.

Why do they never have a full time bass player? Are they doing the Local H schtick or something?

You guys really need to spend the $6 or $7 for the Beware the Circling Fin EP. Holy crap! It's awesome. These dudes are right out of 1983 with this one. Frickin' killer stuff!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fBu_drHXhd4

Not the greatest quality, but that's the first song on the EP. You could convince anyone that this video was 25+ years old (if they didn't mention Ozzfest).

Is it available now? I don't do the "pre-order" thing, but if it's on sale now, I'll be placing my order.
