AB is back with their sophmore effort and what an effort it is. Most bands either hit or miss with the second cd and AB hit a homerun 560 ft here.
This album starts off with 2 killer metal songs Ties that Bind and Come to Life and just never lets up. There are no filler material here either just plain brilliance just listen to the title track blackbird and tell me that isnt one of the best sculptured songs ever

It's funny with this band 'cause i just read an interview with the guitarist Mark and he's denying his past "Christian" label. He sure didn't mind the label when he was in Creed making a fortune. He just said it was all the singer's thing but if he didn't like the lyrics or whatever he could have spoke up back then. What these people do to gain "credibility" in the rock/metal world is a joke.

u need to understand there label forced them to be more of a scott stapp solo cd, and being on a label u have a contract to fulfill or there is goin to be lots of legal issues if not.
Mark did the right this of disbanding from Scott and doin wjat he does best and thats writing some of the best tunes to date..
AB will always be "the band formerly known as Creed" but that doesnt mean the music has to be.

AlterBridge rule!, like them better than Creed. Blackbird is a worthy followup to their first.

Good to see the band getting more exposure on this board. I think people miss how heavy this band really is and how talented they are. Mark writes some of the best riffs and songs out there and plays with the best of em as well. New album to be released sometime by summer I hope and I cant wait...

Good band. Not metal though. They are actually more alternative rock.
That doesn't mean that they aren't good however.

I guess so. If they had decided to pursue that direction instead of alterna-stream.

You have these guys all wrong. Sometimes I wonder if you have heard anything from them?
These guys are more metal then most bands labeled metal. This is just straight forward hard rock/metal

I owned their first album, "One Day Remains".
It was good modern day alternative hard rock.
Nothing truly metal about it though.
But again ... that doesn't make it BAD. Just not metal.
I don't think anyone here (besides you and a small handful) even would consider this band to be metal.
It's all good though.

What is Alternative hard rock? There really is no such thing IMO. Find The Real, Metalingus, Watch Your Words, The End is Here, Ties That Bind, Come to Life, Buried Alive, Blackbird, One by One, White Knuckles, and The Damage Done are heavy platters to me. Much heavier then anything ALTERNATIVE...
Alternative?

Nevermind dude.
It's okay. There's no use in trying to explain it any further.
Just go on thinking how you want. It's okay.
Cheers!

Well until you change my mind and give me a few reasons why this band is considered Alternative I will stick to they are just plan hard rock/metal. I'm not trying to give you a hard time, I just never heard them labeled this before.

Who gives a rat's ass if they are metal or not, the only thing that should matter is if the music is good or not.

I agree manny but its laughable for them to be called Alternative IMO. But I guess we all can agree they make some pretty bad ass music...

I think they fall more into the metal genre then alternative but that is my IMO, personally I think Alter Bridge is a great band and I hope that after the Creed tour, they fire this band back up.
The band I suppose bridges the gap between metal and alternative, but at the end of the day, I think they are great band and peps can call them pop music for all I care.

One of the best bands on the planet IMO. Hopefully they release some teasers off AB3 so it makes me more anxious to get the album. I think Mark really needs to make up his mind as far as where he wants to be. The back and forth between bands really has never held strong in this business.
AT the end of the day though I will take anything that Mark touches...

For Metal Rob from Classic Rock magazine's website:
Alter Bridge have finished recording their third album, although no release date has been set.
The band say: “We are pleased to inform you that the recording of our third album has been completed. It was an amazing journey and we believe that the songs that we have created are our most inspired and dynamic work to date.
“The next step in the process will be mixing, which will begin in mid-April, in New York. The mixing will probably take a few weeks and once that is finished, we will begin the difficult task of deciding which songs will make the album. The goal is to release the album in September, before our planned October tour in Europe that will start in the UK.”
Vocalist Myles Kennedy is, of course, committed to touring as part of Slash’s band.
