| Any of you guys ever see any unexplainable lights in the sky before? If not, do you still think they are real? If so, care to share? | |

| I certainly believe in life on other planets outside our solar system. UFOs? I'm not so sure. That said, my wife and I did witness a strange light in the sky we could not identify. It was a stationary bright white light hovering in the sky for a considerable amount of time.It then suddenly darted off to the left along the horizon and then out of sight. Pretty strange to see. In the words of Fox Mulder's poster "I Want To Believe". | |

I've seen something similar in a way. Me and a friend were out in the desert outside of Vegas. We saw this really bright light hovering over the mountains. At first we thought it was a helicopter. Then it turned a bright red, went up higher, changed back to white light, went south, then north, hovered again for a few seconds, then shit up and south and was gone within a blink of an eye. Up to the last thing it did, we still thought it was either a helicopter or Harrier jet, but nothing we have can go the speeds this thing did right at the end. I've seen a few other things, but that was the only one I think I'll share lol

| The problem with UFO sightings is that people don’t realize how advanced some of the government aircraft has become. I think they are testing some crazy shit that seems alien compared to what people are used to. | |

| True, but what I saw, doesn't matter what type of technology we have, no human being could survive the gforce. | |

Maybe it was an unmanned craft. They have computer guided robotics exploring the far reaches of space.

| Those are valid points TZ. And you may be spot on about it. But I have no idea where an experimental craft would originate from around here. But man, seeing something like that can really spook you. There was no sound to what I saw so it really was a headscratcher. | |

Maybe it was an unmanned craft. They have computer guided robotics exploring the far reaches of space. Yeah maybe, but we are talking something that went from zero to thousands a miles per hour in a blink of an eye and vanished into the upper atmosphere or space. This also took place back in the late 80's, it's highly doubtful they had something that could do that back then, let alone even today.

| I don't believe or disbelieve in UFOs and/or aliens.
I think it's very possible that somewhere in the universe there are sentient beings but why the hell they'd be interested in this miserable species and the insignificant planet we live on is beyond me.
I think most UFOs that are spotted are either misidentified known things like balloons or secret aircraft the military is working on. I don't think ET is visiting any time soon. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

https://www.history.com/news/navy-confirms-ufo-videos-real Okay, so guys, 007 just posted something fascinating. In short, The Navy has in fact confirmed that there have been legit sightings of UFO's and they even have a special place to file the sightings away. Not saying there are UFO's and aliens for sure, but there has been unexplained activity. They JUST announced this. Wrecked Neck, your timing for posting this is sort of breathtaking!

| Of course the Navy is going to say that because saying "Yeah, there's something weird out there" is preferable to saying "Yeah, we're flying weird crafts you guys have absolutely no clue about."
I'm still not buying it. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| I used to be a total skeptic just like Toho. I grew up watching stuff like Cosmos, and other things that say that interstellar space travel is next to impossible. I also read some books about ufos that were really lame with fake photos in them. I pretty much laughed at anyone that said they were real. All that changed after seeing what I described above, plus a couple other things I won't go into detail here.
The argument that it's just stuff that we are testing and the public doesn't know about really holds no weight for me. Too many sightings by too many qualified people should be worth something. Pilots, astronauts, radar operators etc, all have reported unexplainable flying objects. If they aren't qualified, then I don't know who is.
I've actually seen that video from above that 007 posted. I have a thought on why the government is now admitting to the cover up of these things after all these years, but if I told you what I think, you will all think I'm crazy. Plus it would be too hard to explain it on a forum post without it sounding like I AM crazy lol
All I can say is, keep an open mind, because you just never know.

| As I said I don't disbelieve in UFOs either. I think it's possible there's something out there but I think the vast majority of "sightings" are misidentified known things. I also think the number of reports seems to have dropped since everyone started carrying a camera in their phones. You'd think the opposite would happen and we'd be deluged with crystal clear images of weird lights moving in "otherworldly" ways. But we're not. Coincidence?
And now with drones you can add yet another known thing with the potential to be called a "UFO". _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Speaking of Nessie, I saw something this week about some scientists thinking Nessie is really just a large eel. Which makes sense based on some of the pictures and descriptions about undulating humps and such in the water. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

And now with drones you can add yet another known thing with the potential to be called a "UFO". Yes I'm sure there are more fake reports than real. Far as a lack of clear photos, I agree, but maybe they have come seen that be crazy and got daphuq outta here lol There are still sightings going on, just not like it was back in the fifties till about the nineties I'd say. Even if someone got a crystal clear photo or video, everyone would just cry Photoshop and read the next clickbait article on their fb page. There have been some pretty good start sightings though. The Phoenix lights back in the nineties I think it was? Pattern of ships flying across the whole city that was filmed and witnessed by thousands, still unexplained to my knowledge. There was a video shot from one of the shuttle missions showing what looked like a few ufos flying in and out of the earth atmosphere, then what looks like a bright flash, and then they vanish. There are others I've read about or seen footage of, but those two are the most compelling to me. I'll see if i can find the video of the shuttle sighting.

https://www.phoenixnewtimes.com/news/the-phoenix-lights-are-no-mystery-6661825 Solved by a guy tracking fast moving jets through a dobsonian telescope for over a minute? Dude is a liar. I have a Schmidt Cassegrain telescope, and it's damn near impossible to track airplanes for a few seconds, let alone military jets for a full minute. Schmidt cassegrain telescope are much more easy to maneuver than a dobsonian any day of the week. It could very well be flares from training exercises, but I'm also pretty sure it's still open for debate.

| This stuff has intrigued me since childhood too and I try to keep an open-minded but skeptical approach to all the mysteries around us. For sure stuff happens that human science can't explain and I think that's the intriguing part but I don't want to waste a lot of time chasing hoaxes, hence the skeptical part. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.
