- I've never quite figured out what Suite: Madame Blue was about. I remember the amusement park I worked at at the time had several lines from the song painted on a bridge over a creek and seemed to portray the song as being about America. And some of the lyrics DO seem to point in that direction but if that's the case the song seems more like an indictment as opposed to a celebration of the country.
Any thoughts? "Suite Madame Blue" is a metaphor for America. It was written for the Bicentennial back in '76. I learned this many moons ago from In the Studio w/ Redbeard? It's my fave Styx song too, Toho.

| Thanks Sentinel.
I've always kind of thought that's what it meant.
That song just ROCKS from about the 4 and a half minute mark... _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| They seemed to be saying the U.S. had passed it's peak, a storyline they'd continue with Paradise Theater. | |

I think you are correct, sir. It's a concept album about the fictional theater and the change in America throughout the '70's; back when we all had Too Much Time On Our Hands.

| Carrying on with the idea of this thread, I present these lyrics (more than the usual sentence or two because this one might be a little more obscure):
In the time we spent together Many words have passed between And the feelings that we shared are all behind us now 'Cause a change has come upon me And I'm surely not the same There is so much more than what we feel and live every day. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| I'll see if anyone else takes a stab but I've been revisiting this band a lot lately. Are they the greatest band talent wise in rock music? | |

I don't know about the greatest talent-wise but this is easily my favorite song by the band. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| "I'm 37?!?!?!?!?!" BTW, I have to "think outside the box" for a living so throwing in a movie quote didn't stump me. Especially since it was from one of my favorite movies. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| So... here's my Clerks anecdote. I saw it on campus at my sister's college in Massachusetts back when it came out. She lived in a suite with 5 other girls on campus and I was hooking up with one of them on a pretty regular basis. I went up there to see her and we ended up going to the lecture hall where it was playing. We laughed our asses off. Great film. | |

The first time I saw Clerks I laughed so hard my stomach was sore the next day. Part of it was because I worked in "the retail sector" for a while and I could relate to a lot of the stuff that went on with the customers in the store. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

What ya got, my Metal bruddas? This sort of rings a bell with me too, especially that 4th line. But it's also kind of a "generic" metal lyric so who knows? _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| It is fairly generic, sort of a Dio lyric but i'm pretty sure it's not him. | |
