Running around town today I popped in my personal comp of Styx tunes and this one came on.
I have to admit that when it started I went "WTF?". Of course it's from the latter day Styx album "Cyclorama" which is long after the prime years of the band (see "Equinox", "Crystal Ball", "Grand Illusion" and "Pieces Of Eight"), but I have to admit once you get past the stupid, cheesy, porno-sounding guitar in the verse and get to the chorus I think this is actually a good song.

Traditional Tuesday:
This Friday:
The rock opera portion of this was the funniest damn thing I've heard in some time! Especially the narrator!!!!
Much better this time. Either I was not focused enough last time or the volume wasn't loud enough on my headphones.
Favorite album so far this year, but we've only just begun.

While running around today I was spinning my Warren Zevon comp and this one came up. Coincidentally I'm watching PBC on Fox and Ray Mancini is the color commentator. And I remember the Duk Koo Kim fight; my Dad and I watched it live back in 1982:
BTW, Mancini looks awful tonight on TV; it's hard to believe he's only a year younger than I am because he looks at least 10 years older than me.
Boom Boom used to be my favorite fighter back then. He always put on an entertaining fight because he wasn't afraid to mix it up with his opponents. As the song says, "the name of the game is to get hit and hit back."

I love that Zep box set. It's the only LZ I own but it's also all I need.

I posted a mini-review in the Overkill thread; it's basically awesome and has a really nasty mix that I dig. Kind of a throwback album songwriting-wise, akin to UTI/YoD in terms of attitude.
Sunday's playlist thanks to RF:
Quote :
Barón Rojo - Siempre Estás Allí (early 1980s Spanish metal band) Black Sabbath - When Death Calls (even though Black Sabbath is one of the most famous metal bands of all time, the Tony Martin era is almost completely ignored, and this is the best song from that era) Chastain - Angel of Mercy (Leather Leone's vocal performance here is one of her best) Heathen - Prisoners of Fate (their 1991 album Victims of Deception is one of the best ever, in my books) Helstar - Winds of War (well, it's not a ballad the whole time, but at least halfway there) Obsession - Desperate to Survive Onslaught - Welcome to Dying (this might actually be the best song Onslaught ever did) Organized Rhyme - Check the O.R. (yo, what's up, homey g?) Pantera - We'll Meet Again (Pantera is one of the most famous metal bands ever, but Power Metal seems to be buried by the band, or at least Phil, so I'll mention this song) Riot V - Immortal (Unleash the Fire is one of the best metal albums of the 2010s) Solitude Aeturnus - Shattered My Spirit (their best ballad) Sortilège - Quand un Aveugle Rêve (1980s-era metal band; notable for being Chuck Schuldiner's favorite metal band of all time)
